Yes, but, I'm United 1K Global Service and I can't recall ever being on a United flight with smoke in the cockpit. You just can't beat a proper maintenance plan!

https://abcnews.go.com/US/united-flight-diverted-smoke-cockpit/story?id=53407524

In the USA, each year:
~34,000 die in automobile accidents
~33,000 die from firearms
~30,000 die from opioids

Since 2010, there's been 1 airline passenger death. That's one death in 8.5 years.

I have a hard time being too concerned about the FAA or which airline to fly.

*** About 63% of which are suicides.

The point stands, though, commercial airline travel is the safest form of travel by a very large margin.

The US flew F-86 Sabres and even some modified P-51 Mustangs throughout Vietnam. We can’t get rid of the 70’s era A-10 it’s so freaking sweet.
You forgot to mention the B-52's. BUFF'S our the bomb. It's the Airforce's version of the M2HB. Don't mess with perfection.

That's great, but only if they actually fly and don't cancel flights. I'm still pissed about having to re-book my flight last minute to the Camping World Bowl because Allegiant cancelled the flight three hours before it was supposed to leave. Jerks.

This is the issue when flying a small airline like this, particularly because they don't have reciprocation with other airlines.

I fly Allegiant quite a bit - at least six times a year, often more. It normally goes off without an issue, but when it goes wrong, it's usually very wrong. I've been locked in airports a couple of times with flights getting home at 3 or 5am that was scheduled to land at 10pm. Being stuck in the airport overnight beats the alternative of being stuck in Wichita or Sioux Falls for three days, or ponying up for a flight on another airline when there are typically few options.

Allegiant does (by chance) provide me with direct flights to a few cities family members live in or near that are more difficult/expensive to get to on the big boy airlines. So I'll keep using them.
