Governor is going to have to extend the shutdown till end of May. Can’t even get close to opening up yet according to the federal guidelines.

Right now, I just want my daughter to get back to her extended care; I don't even care about activities I want to do. With the weather being nice, trying to work at home and entertain an under 5 yr old is getting difficult.

Or Iowa will fall in line with other states that are ignoring those, maybe even be encouraged to exercise their personal responsibility.

Has she asked for more testing or antibody tests or do a majority of the regions need to get to a 10 first?

Wow. I run and walk, have lived in a small town my whole life. I can't even imagine being in that situation with only crowded areas. I do feel fortunate at this time in my life.

Not like I am living on the 10th floor of a NYC apartment. Usually not THAT crowded, it's just that everyone is home and out, especially on weekends. It won't be so bad if peeps did some distancing but they just don't seem to get it once they are outside. Here's a picture I took Friday morning in the regional park next door (morning walkabout before it got to congested with peeps with no respect for others).

Also spied wood ducks and hooded mergansers.

That's about the same % I saw yesterday during a walkabout in the park. Won't go there this weekend, it will be too crowded. Some peeps were doing okay about yielding enough space on the paths, others not at all and walking two abreast or in large family groups. Biking groups and runners were almost 100% not yielding ANY space. Runners are the worst, thanks for breathing hard through your mouth while trying to almost rub shoulders with me.
I can't speak for anyone else but I have been very conscious of giving people lots of space when I'm out running. I will either run out in the grass or cross the street if I see people on the sidewalk or trail in front of me. Walkers never give me the same courtesy. It is always up to me to move out of the way, which I'm used to.

389 cases.

Probably mostly meat plants, but I don't know the breakdown by county for the 389. Not ideal.

261 or 67% of today's 389 additional positive cases can be attributed to surveillance testing of meat processing facilities. That includes over 500 completed surveillance tests of Tyson employees and over 500 completed surveillance tests of National Beef employees, for a total of 84 positive and 177 positive respectively.

I know this is supposed to be positive but I have a hard time seeing why.

I've moved off trail to allow space for those that don't even seem to notice and give a bit of a stare down.

I walk, run, and bike so I experience it from all viewpoints on the trail, although I'm not really biking right now. Seems like too big a pain in the ass given the traffic and trying to social distance. I honestly don't even know how you can do that on a bike right now. Maybe once everyone gets over spring fever and realizes they don't like being outdoors near as much as they think they do I might try on off peak hours.

This makes the number make a lot more sense. The meat processing facilities are clearly hot spots. Hopefully they can isolate people and not spread outside the facilities.

So, taking out the meat facilities brings the case number to 128, which falls in line with projected numbers. I wouldn't expect anything to change with respect to the gov's directions.

The situations with these plants is imo perfect advertising for more widespread preemptive testing. It would take a lot of time to efficiently develop but I haven't seen much in the way of an effort for that to really become a thing.

do we know that?
Without knowing details I think this is a safe assumption. Number of tests administered was the highest single day by a wide margin.

Or at the very least we can assume the spike in cases was in part due to the spike in testing.

Would be very interesting to know how many of those positives were asymptomatic. Now I know right now that the Governor and her team won't tell us but would be interesting to know.

It was mentioned that they were doing mass testing of the employees. The understanding I had was they sent a crew to test the employees specifically.
But why does that make a difference in way the numbers are interpreted? We should be testing everyone who is potentially exposed.
