He's in Kansas City. Some bigoted folks I know consider KC to fit that. They claim that the WWI memorial is some kind of gathering point

That'd be my first guess.

This kind of reminds me of a quote in Blazing Saddles. I would rather not type it out.

He said it at work and deservedly will be fired. But in all seriousness let's make a list of all the people ever that have at no point in their life made an inappropriate comment.

1.

I think that's why so many people backed up Mr. King when AB took a dump on him. (Which was a joke in itself as Old Auggie was about as racist as they came)

PC and real life never really match up well. Often the biggest accusers are the worst offenders.

Erik- I don’t think he’s in Kansas City - the broadcasters aren’t allowed to travel with the team. He’s in Cincinnati.

All- That said, I always find it interesting that everyone’s first response to a situation where an inappropriate word is spoken publicly is to bring the hammer down and destroy the individual, with the general understanding that the person is obviously an evil bigot. Not a lot of mercy out there. Not sure that’s really the world we all want to build anyway.

What do you think should happen here? I don't think using language like that is a mistake that just slips out.

I have a co-worker who constantly insists he's not racist (and if you really aren't, do you have to keep reminding people of it?), and yet will use the n-word when referring to blacks. He has coached football, which to me is surprising that he still has that mentality, but there it is.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that those types of feelings will almost always make themselves known, one way or another. Brennaman is certainly sorry, but only because of what his mistake cost him.

Oh, this is about political correctness - it’s about being a decent person and treating others right. I’ve got zero patience for people who look down on and treat people poorly for their sexual orientation. I’ll call a spade a spade - these are bad people.

And if you can’t do that in your personal life - you better be able to fake it ib your professional life.

Eh I’m fine living in a world where using a slur that is incredibly well known as being incredibly offensive will get you fired.

plus, his apology didn’t do him any favors. “I’m sorry to the people that sign my paychecks. Oh, and if other people were offended I’m sorry to them too”

At this point, “politically correct“ means not being an *******. I’m fine saying people should be politically correct.

I agree with you on this one. You could try to dismiss it and say he didn't know the Mic was on and he's sorry but honestly who talks like that at work. I don't think it's dumb to want to know why he said what he said. It doesn't mean I was trying to let him off the hook.
