Its wash, stop saying warsh. You are only embarrassing yourself.

My mom has her doctorate, and says "warsh." I find it enraging, my children even mock her for it. Janny's a ****.

I had Rockford and Aurora, IL along with Madison. Grew up in Iowa but have spent a considerable amount of time living in three other states, none of which were IL or WI. My answers were all over the place.

Since leaving Iowa, I no longer say pop or supper. I don't recognize any other changes based on the questions posed.

One thing I find funny is placing "the" before major road. Out here it is "the 10" or "the 60". In Iowa it's just "35" or "69", and when I'm back that's still how I say it.

Since moving away from Iowa, I've gone from dinner/supper to lunch/dinner and from pop to soda.

I've tried to change to "awnt" versus "ant" but I can't break that one.

Yeah, even being away relatively briefly can change things. I've been back in Iowa / SD for 20+ years and can't say pop...it's soda now. But I can't break ant either.

I lived in RI for awhile and I absolutely called the drinking fountain a bubbler and a sub a grinder. They call milkshakes "cabinets", that I couldn't do. And turn signals are "directionals".

My cousin says "pellow" instead of "pillow". I don't know that I've heard anyone else say it that way. He has lived within 30 minutes of his hometown in Iowa his entire life.

I don't even understand how one COMES to that pronunciation!?

I've heard it in Sioux City more than once. A girl I dated in HS said pellow. It's weird.

I've never heard this; it is such an illogical pronunciation!

I've always been fascinated with the common pronunciation of "February" as "Feb-u-ary."

Pretty common. Goes along with saying “melk” instead of “milk”.
Was just gonna post this. The other one I notice is roof. I say roof, like rooooof. Lots of people here say something like ruff. EDIT: or like the chess piece, rook.
