I don't think it will be open but then you can never really tell what Mike Tomlin may do (especially if Ben R were to retire)...but I could see Coach Campbell being attracted to the Steelers organization! And I could certainly see the Steelers organization wanting a guy like Coach Campbell to lead them! But I doubt that job will be open but you never know...

Now that would be a tough job to turn down. The ownership of Steelers has been really stable (IMO) and they seem to treat their employees really well, and have patience with their teams.

I don't feel that he is likely to leave for NW or any of the jobs we currently know are open. NW seems similar to ISU culturally in that they know how to develop kids and play a style that allows them to win. For some reason I think he might favor being closer to home in the Big 10 also. I don't really know what his goals are though.
I thought the people worried about MSU were crazy. Go look at footage of Northwesterns game vs UMass last year. Maybe 15-20,000. Their 47k or whatever it is stadium only gets sold out when other teams come fill it.

If there is such a thing as a NW football board, all 12 of their fans know they have no shot in hell at a guy like Campbell.

If a coach places any value on fan interest and support, NW is a terrible job.

Fred ruined this fan base didn’t he? Him going from Iowa State, to Chicago, to Nebraska makes people think being close to the home town is the most important thing in a coaches life.
I think it’s more that some fans can’t accept that ISU is a better job than a fair number of other P5 school. Or they don’t realize that Campbell has already become way too attractive a candidate to settle for anything but a top tier college or NFL job.

If Day moves to Jacksonville, it is Fickelll or somebody from left field.

CMC is not in left field.

Campbell mentioned as more willing to listen to job offers according to this little section.

There remains a very robust market for two current college coaches in particular -- Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald and Iowa State's Matt Campbell. Several GMs I spoke to get the sense that Campbell is ready to make the jump after resisting it in the past, and while Fitzgerald is more prone to listen than he has been in the past, sources said he won't make any decisions on conducting any interviews until later in the week.

I don't see Day leaving OSU. Harbaugh could see some interest, but that doesn't seem super likely with any of these franchises.
Day has changed teams almost every year. Don't see any loyalty to OSU.

Not exactly sure.
With Campbell having no agent, it’s gotta be a little harder to contact him. They have to contact JP first to talk to him, but If he says ok but I’m not giving you his number, if he doesn’t have a landline they would have try to Twitter or Facebook him wouldn’t they? I am just joking around, but without an agent it has to be kinda difficult to talk to him I would think. Would help JP know also if people are discussing jobs.

In theory. But I’m sure people bypass those conventions all of the time.

I’m not that worried but I’ll be happier once these NFL jobs are full and any college jobs that open up are full.

Trickle down could easily affect ISU. Ryan leaving OSU, as an example, for Lions would not be good.

I read this article to say that Florida coach is/will be gone to NFL.

Get the sense as in they hear the media link him to every opening, or get the sense from actually talking to him?

That’s the question. I doubt he’s talking but someone close to him could be.

Most likely someone thinks he’d be interested and is just going with that.

I don't think Campbell is talking to NFL GMs on the regular so how do they "get the sense" he's ready to listen? lol

They have no clue.

People realize that most coaching rumors about taking other college or NFL jobs are the agents spreading false rumors to get their client and extension and more money.. Right??

Some are true, but MOST is a lie

Do national reports get $$$ for being apart of the scheme?? Or are they just too stupid?

This is kind of concerning, especially since the past couple years the contract extension comes out 1-2 days after the season is over. If nothing comes out by the end of this week I’ll become very worried
Campbell is on his annual post season vacation, FYI

Jamie addressed this on the coach's show on Monday (I think it was at the beginning of his portion at around 7:15, I'd suggest watching it).

Jamie said he and Matt met Sunday and talked about things. Matt is now on vacation for a few weeks, so we will hear nothing. Jamie mentioned that in previous years there was more rush to get the extension announced due to early signing day and that wasn't the case this year. Jamie didn't sound particularly concerned.
