Not exactly sure.
People actually believe the kid be like, "I'd like to commit to the 2001 Hawkeye team, please?" Because that's what that's saying.

People must forget their thought process as a 16-18 year old. Many are lucky to think 15 minutes down the road let along look back 10 years and forward 5-10.

These are the types of things you do when you feel the tide changing. I suspect there is now more comments of "well I think highly of Iowa State" made by recruits and this is what you do to tell them they are wrong. Only problem is today's "eye test" is starting to look different than what that sheet says.

Oh and I think they should add a "sued by former players" row 1 - 0
And a "knowingly put players in the hospital" row 1 - 0

If we continue the trend we're on, it won't take a decade. Certain kids may pay attention to history, but most aren't going much past five years. A 2-3 year trend will stand out more than what happened in the 90s.
No one is comparing the 90's. In my opinion, ISU needs to get more kids in to the NFL and that is going to take some time(decade). Getting kids to the next level is a HUGE selling point. There is reason ISU football and basketball have special walls recognizing kids that make it to the league. You go to any college campus and one of the biggest monuments/walls of recognition is the players they have been able to advance to the league.

People gloss over the fact that many players looks for schools based on that position. If you’re an RB right now, are you going to look at Iowas **** or ISUs success with Montgomery and Hall?

They have a much better recruiting class and are a ranked team. Doubt they feel a tide changing.

Me mentioning the 90's was more hyperbole given that stupid Hawkeye spreadsheet. I never disagreed with you about the importance of putting players in the NFL. I agree with you on everything but the decade timetable. Clemson went from a respectable program with the occasional good year to a powerhouse in about 5 years.

A top level prospect is likely planning on getting to the league in three years. If the past three years of a program are successful, that will likely be more than enough to sell a recruit (with other factors also coming into play).

But, but, but...they have four 4* OLs signed! What RB wouldn't want to play there? Never mind that ISU just had the nation's leading rusher and our former starter just had a 1000 yard season in the league.

To be honest, yes. It's hard to not look at what Iowa has put in the NFL compared to ISU and not be a legit selling point to a young man. ISU is definitely on the rise but it's going to take a decade to start to change the narrative.

Losing Doyle was a big shot in the arm for Iowa State.

If you look at how hard of a time they've had filling out their class post racism becoming public, they are going to struggle with the 2022 class.

I think the most important factor in recruiting: Does the kid relate to the head coach? Does he feel the connection?

I know that facilities, campus, and other things are important, too... but that coach connection thing cannot be ignored.

So you need to ask yourself... Matt Campbell? Or KKKirk Ferentz? Which person would you like better?

I've always wondered why recruits don't **** with hated rivals more often. If I would have been a top RB recruit, I'd commit to Iowa so they stopped recruiting the position (or deterred other recruits), then on signing day I'd sign with ISU...of course keeping ISU in the loop.

Because **** Iowa.
While few recruits are they in love with a school to begin with, I think having a relationship with the opposing staff tends to melt rivalry.

Winner. Right here.

Wanna talk about history?

Fluellen. Hunt. Montgomery. Hall.

Those are the ONLY Running Backs to start a whole season for Matt Campbell.

Trust me, Eli Sanders knows this and it is probably the deciding factor.
