I don’t see a reason to search for something to blame UAB on. We played like crap and got upset. Happens almost every year in the tournament.
Weirdly, on here the Prohm groupies who were desperate to blame all his failures on Hoiberg or for him to be compared favorably to Hoiberg planted their flag on the UAB game. It was an upset. It happens.
Well, I don't know if I would call myself a Prohm "groupie", but this kind of thing is why I was a former strong defender of his. Please note my emphasis of the past tense here.
My personal (and I can only write for myself here) issue with this whole Hoiberg vs. Prohm debate (if it can really even be called that) as it relates to the NCAA tournament is that some of the same posters who have this attitude about upsets happening every year in the tournament; sh!t happens, time to move on, etc. and who had this kind of "it sucks, but oh well..." attitude about us losing as a #3 seed against a #14 seed in a game that we had a 90+% chance to win were on the same hand frothing at the mouth and practically ready to draw and quarter CSP on the spot for losing a first round game as a 6 seed against an 11 seed.
Losing a first round game as a heavy favorite against a #14 seed is a worse loss in the tournament than losing as a slight favorite against an #11 seed, and it doesn't matter if you worship the ground one coach walks on and made up your mind on Day One to dislike the other coach. Not all NCAA tournament losses are equal, and not all NCAA tournament wins are equal either. I'm happy to agree with others that CFH's NCAA tournament wins are on the balance better than CSP's.
