Got to say that I have the Drake game on right now, and while the Redbirds aren't exactly quality competition, the Bulldogs look pretty damn good to me. They would easily beat us, not that that would be a hard task this season.

There seems to be a total infatuation with TJ because he was an assistant and top recruiter for McDermott and Fred.

Every coach since Orr has brought enough talent to Ames to win...Orr, Floyd, Eustachy, Morgan, McDermott, Hoiberg, and Prohm...whoever is next will do the same.

We need someone to continue that and be able to coach...you do that through having an identity as a team..you also need assistants that can coach that system and recruit...Tim, Larry, and Fred had those in different ways...Wayne, Greg, and Steve didn’t...winning in whatever style we played was always more fun than losing..

TJ could be a good coach..but what has he ever done without the best player in the modern day Summit League history he inherited to convince everyone he’s a ‘slam dunk’?

Give me a winner that can coach...is it a guarantee we’ll see success under them?...no. (See McDermott)...but we’ve been able to get players the last 35 years regardless of who our coach is..I’d rather take a chance on someone that has shown they can coach that talent up.

Looks like Devries is the new, shiney object to CF'ers. No doubt he's a very good coach, but TJ has the experience. The experience of the Big 12 and obviously what it takes to win in Ames. You have to give TJ the reigns next.

The other depressing fact is if we do make a change, it’s likely at least 2 years before making the tourney, unless there is some absolute steals in transfers and perhaps Foster and Hunter stay in the fold. Just looking at the big 12, everyone..say except TCU/KSU and clearly ISU is experiencing an up tick or is KU who is always good. The league is a beast and will continue to be one which will do a new staff no good favors.

Go back and look at his recruiting classes and where the rest of his league was at the time. He underperformed based on those two things.

Five Big 10 titles going up against Izzo. 2 Final Fours. Not terrible. I don't care about shady. Shady seems to pay off in college sports.

You ‘have to’?...what experience?...Wayne Morgan had TJ’s experience...does he get all the credit for the success under Fred and none of the blame for losing under McDermott or Romar at Washington?..and if you want to blame the losing on them do you blame TJ for UNLV sucking with the best resources and tradition in the Mountain West Conference?...he couldn’t do worse than Prohm but it absolutely blows my mind that people don’t realize we’ve gotten talent to Ames the last 35 years and the difference between winning and losing has been coaching and having an identity as a team..

All things considered, yeah, you hire TJ and hope for the best.

There are 100 available TJ’s...who hasn’t brought talent to Ames since before Orr? There are also a lot of coaches that have shown they can coach up talent more than TJ has..does that mean TJ would suck?...no..but to act like he’s a no brainer is incredibly short sighted
