I don’t know enough about either of these guys so forgive me for asking but, for the guys who are strongly against TJ, can you give us some concrete reasons? Other than his current record at UNLV which I realize is bad.

Lol what other reason do you need? I was against him the first time around because he didn’t have the experience, and this time around well he doesn’t pop off the screen to anyone but some Cyclone fans.

The other depressing fact is if we do make a change, it’s likely at least 2 years before making the tourney,

Getting back to a consistent tournament level and regaining a foothold in Big 12 might not happen overnight, but I hope the next coach doesn't need 2 or 3 years to get ISU back to "competitive" level or be a serious contender for postseason.

I’m with ya, but with a likely transfered roster, full rebuild and with big 12 being stronger that ever, will be tough sledding.

Duke assistants are a no go.
Agree
Do not make the Gene Chizek mistake again. Gene was highly regarded as an assistant. Problem was - he had never coached anywhere where it was hard and takes lots of work. He only coached at places where recruits call you - like Duke,

This ISU BBall fan in a nutshell. Bash the **** out of a guy that’s not even our coach that helped produce the best extended period of basketball this school has ever seen because he might be the next coach. Maybe Prohm is the only guy that wants this job.
He was also an integral part of some of the worst extended period of basketball this school has ever seen.

Nebraska has never won an ncaa tourney game. There’s nothing to “turn around” there.
What, they hired him to maintain the status quo? Doesn't matter what they have done in the past.....he doesn't do better then, was he really ever that good? I love me some Fred so it won't change my mind. I'm just speaking of could happen.

This is the perfect setup for Pollard after lolTJ fails, he will just say he gave the fan base what they wanted.

If Pollard hires lolTJ he should never be allowed to hire another coach again.

Agree, hard pass on lolTJ.

If the other options are lolTJ and lolDevries then its Sampson by a landslide. I just think Sampson is too old and soon recruits will get nervous about committing due to his age. I think we should shoot for a coach with the potential to be here 10-20 years.

What is with the "lolTJ"?

I personally wouldn’t like Sampson, Beilien or Altman. All because of age and/or culture fit for Ames.
I forgot Ames doesn’t compare culturally to the hustle and bustle of Norman, Oklahoma or Morgantown, West Virginia or the metropolis of Manhattan, Kansas. :jimlad:

Prohm definitely isn’t the only guy that wants the job...

I’d support TJ if he got the job but I think it’s pretty crazy how people look at his resume and think he’s a no brainer..there are other options..

Just imagine if Texas Tech fans would’ve shut down Beard because he didn’t have experience in the conference or program or at a power 5 despite the fact he could clearly coach..imagine if they insisted on a guy that was under Knight or Dickey that was a lead recruiter instead?

Imagine if our football program ignored a winner like Campbell because he didn’t know the Iowa State program and what it’s like to coach at a power 5?

TJ might end up being a good coach. I root for him now at UNLV and I’ll support him if we hire him..I also think he won’t be worse than Prohm...what has he actually done though that separates him as a head coach candidate?...he’s brought good players to Iowa State as a recruiter and been an assistant on good teams here and bad teams here..he won at South Dakota State after inheriting the the most dominant player in the last 40 years of the summit league...aside from that...you know him?

Think you better brush up on your Chris Beard history.
