Campbell's extension officially starts the clock on Prohm. I agree they did look much better Saturday, is it enough? Probably not. However, if they do continue to improve exponentially he could get another year.
Absolutely agree. And yes we did play well. We didn't play perfect, obviously, and making 16 threes certainly helps, but a lot of those were coming off of O-rebounds and good ball movement.I didn't see Saturday because of work, but it sounded like we played well.
And I can't imagine it's unclear where I stand, but two good games out of two is a step up.

The direction of our team is trending correctly, however the Prohm saga is going to come to and end this year in my opinion. The ONLY way I could see that changing is if somehow we win something like 6 out of the next 8 games, but that's a ridiculous task.
No you all get to group think with no push back.
you know, not every single moment in the basketball program in the last 6 years was all bad. But you all have yourselves so wound up with anti coach nonsense, you (metaphorical) can’t even bring yourselves to give credit for good wins and efforts. This is how you know it’s been personal. Because you cant say man I hope Iowa State wins, and therefore Steve prohm wins, because then you’re a prohm lover.
It’s also stuff people in program read.
kids will move on when the change is made. They will make those decisions with their families after the season. It’s the nature of the business.
I was impressed in a variety of ways on Saturday and am actually excited to watch us play tonight against an average TCU team.
On Saturday our guys fought their a***** off and actually looked competent. Now, there were some areas we were poor at (like 2 pt. shooting), but there were a lot of those that were actually good looks and some that should've been called for fouls. Which brings me to my next criticism which would be aggressiveness. Outside of Solomon and Bolton, we don't have guys that like to take it to the rack. JCL and Johnson are far too in love with the mid-range jumper and Conditt honestly and truly might be the worst big man in P5 basketball. There were 3 separate times Conditt got the ball on a mismatch down low and instead of going through the guys chest towards the rim, he'd do a hook shot and fade away from the basket. It's embarrassing.
BUT let's not dwell on those negatives. We shot the ball well from beyond the arc and although we made some tough ones and should not expect to consistently make those, we moved the ball incredibly well. I truly had to do a double take on one possession and I also laughed when I saw our guys swing the ball around the perimeter and make the extra pass for a wide open three pointer. We ended with 14 assists, which accounted for almost half the total made shots we had. We also ended with 10 turnovers, which is 5 less turnovers than usual. Something else we did well was rebound on the offensive end. We had 10 offensive rebounds and a few of those ended up as made 3 pointers for the good guys.
It was a fun and entertaining game to watch and that's now two games in a row where we didn't look like a 2-11 team. Wins will start to happen if you continue to play like that and I think we can scratch one out tonight. These guys deserve some success after the year they've had.
Exactly. I will cheer for the team to win but I’m no longer disappointed when we don’t. Prohm has irreparably lost a large portion of the fan base. Prolonging the pain does nothing.Im probably going to get flamed for this but here goes. I agree with everything you stated above. I also cant bring myself to cheer against the cyclones in any circumstance. BUT..my biggest fear is some 3 or 4 game win streak that sells false hope for this coach to be retained for next year. Things are so bad right now we get excited when the team plays hard. Think about that.

Yup that's so true. That's why I started laughing when I was seeing good ball movement. I literally couldn't handle my emotions when watching guys do basic basketball fundamentals haha.Im probably going to get flamed for this but here goes. I agree with everything you stated above. I'd be incredibly disappointed if Jamie determined Prohm's fate based off winning 1 single conference game.I think if Prohm wins one b12 game this season, its better than 50/50 he stays.
If he wins 2 b12 games? I think he stays.
Not what I prefer, but what I think happens, if we win.
I don't think we're good enough to win a b12 game.
I disagree. This team would beat Kansas twice, Baylor, Tech, OK St on the road, OU, TCU home and away, and K-state on the road. He wins all of those, he for sure stays.Oh, yeah. He has to be done. Winning out wouldn't even change that now.
I don't know how realistic it is with the current transfer climate, but, I'd like to see most of our players stay, even with a coaching change, because I think they can be competitive next season. If winning games/having fun, gives them confidence their best option is staying in Ames next season regardless of the coach, that's what I'm cheering for.
If Iowa State wins every single one of their games I will buy a beer for every single person on this website.I disagree. This team would beat Kansas twice, Baylor, Tech, OK St on the road, OU, TCU home and away, and K-state on the road. He wins all of those, he for sure stays.
Oh it is impossible, but if he wins out then he would stay is my argument. It won't happen, but if it were to happen Prohm is not fired at the end of the season. If Iowa State wins every single one of their games I will buy a beer for every single person on this website.
I thought they played really well also but Prohm is paid to win games. It amazes me how many people that dont realize even the worst Power 6 teams in basketball dont get blown out by 25 every single game. There are plenty of horrible teams playing other teams close.Steve, I know CMC just got a bump, but please don't come on the message board to plea for an extension.
The Donors don't agree with you on this take.I think if Prohm wins one b12 game this season, its better than 50/50 he stays.

So what happens if we sweep TCU, steal 1 from KU, beat K-State, and lose to Texas, Baylor, KU, and Tech. The Donors don't agree with you on this take.
Oh for sure. 4 ranked opponents, #2 and undefeated Baylor, KU twice. Yeah, 100% he'd stay. That'd be one of the best stretches of wins in the history of Iowa State.Oh it is impossible, but if he wins out then he would stay is my argument.
