For everyone involved Pollard will take the high road, allow Prohm to finish the year, and then fire him either the next day after we are bounced or after the Big 12 Tournament is finished.
Prohm will get his buyout, and I am sure Pollard is already looking at his list of candidates to replace Prohm, he is too smart to not being doing it right now.

Prohm, the other coaches and the players look like dead men walking right now, just going through the motions for another couple of weeks.

It's a ****** year for everyone. There's no reason to fire a coach during a pandemic prior to the season ending. It would accomplish nothing. Not a damn thing. TJ can't take the job until the end of the season anyway.

To be fair though, he's at UNLV which is a pretty terrible job in and of itself in the last 2 decades. Their "success" is way behind them.
Well then - the previous coach went 11-7 in the conference, and got fired.
Otzelberger is 5-7 with four games remaining.

I do wonder when people mention TJ Otzelberger on here is how do we know he would be a success? He was successful at a Mid-Major for a few years and then went up a level and hasn't done enough to prove he should be hired by ISU to improve our basketball program.

There are plenty of Mid-Major coaches out there that we can look at if we decide to make a change. I do not think we are going to be able to snag a coach from a P5 conference.

He isn't setting the world on fire and yes......we can do better. I fear however there is a very good chance that JP is going to go with the comfortable hire that's the least abrasive because he is a familiar face and probably the cheapest option. Heck of a deal.......but here we are.

Jacksona and Solo are two of the first I would tell to look elsewhere. Walker and Foster are about it really.
uh... what? Ok... what exactly have you seen from Walker and Foster that make you think to keep them? Just that they haven't had enough playing time to tell if they are going to be good or not?

Solo would be a great 4th or 5th option. Jackson would be an above average "glue guy" on a decent team. We're trying to build a team here.

The selling point is that he's been here and knows what it takes to win here. Fit does have its benefit and is an intangible you can't really measure.

I'm generally of the opinion that there should be a full coaching search, and he should be on that list. If we do an honest search and TJ comes out on top, i'm good with it. But I don't think it'd be a good thing if we just knee jerk hired him without considering anyone else.

Yeah, and if he beat San Jose St. twice that will even his conference record at 7-7. Then 6 of those wins would be against teams with a combined conference record of 6-38. Doesn't exactly jump out as whoa........"let's get him"! But here we are.

i would imagine you will get your wish in roster turnover. Might even be more.
Well if it is over 80% then only one or two guys are staying. I would find that a bit abnormal but with the new transfer rule who knows. They aren’t bad kids and some of them are high major talent. But they haven’t been around a culture of winning. After awhile you learn to accept losing behavior. Plenty of examples of that type of behavior in the last 3-4 games.

How do you know this?
He doesn't. It was a rumor started by people who couldn't accept the fact that he took the Chicago job as way to cope with it. It's absolutely false that he or Carol hated living in Ames or would never want to move back.

Edit: the people who have marked this post dumb are the individuals who still haven't gotten over Fred taking the Bulls job nearly 6 years after the fact.

Foster is absolutely a Big 12 player. The next coach should build around him and Bolton, Johnson can stick around as the 6th man next year, rest of the team needs to be looking for a MAC school who will take them.

Well whoever Jamie hires, it needs to be a splash of excitement. Because the program is hanging by a thread.
This. Need someone who will be able to sell tickets and bring back excitement. Football funds a good chunk of the department, but football can't get us out of the hole that COVID has left without basketball.

It would stop all the speculation and squash the fan revolt. Everyone can just move on.

But the fan revolt doesn't matter. 1300 can attend home games. Who the **** cares if fans are pissed off on twitter.

By next October, we'll all think TJ has an NCAA tournament team. LIKE WE ALWAYS DO.

The problem is we won't know what kind of search there is. And that is why I am so against TJ.

Which is probably a good thing for our basketball team because he'll probably be wildly successful and I'll spend the next 5 years hoping he doesn't leave.

And if he doesn't it will be Steve Prohm's fault.
