This is a dumb take.
1. UNLV was in full on rebuild when TJ got there. Pretty much everyone on the team the year before that was any good left. Yet he still exceeded in 2019 - 2020 -> During the 2019-20 campaign, he guided the team to a tie for second place in the Mountain West, marking the program's best league finish in 12 years. This year was derailed by injuries to the program along with a month long hiatus due to covid
2. I don't get the love for Craig Smith -> whatever it is people see in him, I don't see. He has one dominant player in the MW conference that wouldn't be in a P5 conference. Craig Smith was near the very bottom of any list of coaches I would want at ISU.
3. Nepotism... ok, right... cause I mean it's not like we are hiring a guy who has no experience what so ever here....
And to put a last stamp here, I think UNLV was on the cups of a breakthrough. Until the DUI charge, TJ had two 4 star recruits heading to UNLV (a PG and PF).
You're talking the guy who wears his pullovers tucked into his jeans...I wouldn't exactly be surprised if he has 3 total outfits his wife lays out for him to wear.
We don't know what the scholarship situation is. This team lost 22 games. There's going to be some hard conversations I'm sure.

And why wouldn't you record them at the same time? He knew what he was going to do and if it some how fell apart, he wouldn't release it.

I was skeptical at first, but the more I dig into it, the more I like it. The record at UNLV puts people off, but UNLV has been garbage for awhile. His first year there was their highest finish in 12 years. That was a tough roster situation, and he has every prerequisite to succeed at ISU from his background. We also know that he's committed for the long-term.
Finally, everyone else either wasn't coming here, or was less qualified than TJ, with the possible exception of Devries. I'm very happy with this, and glad it happened quickly because we need to get off to a fast start on the rebuild.

Are you people really that concerned about it? It's been assumed Jamie was going to hire TJ if he got the chance for YEARS. This is the guy he wanted to take over 6 years ago. We're now analyzing the shirt under his pullover? For what, so you can be more pissed he didn't hire some douchebag from Utah?
