Or that he REALLY likes teaching kids about football and life and can get paid more money than he'll ever be able to spend.
We can only hope that's case. So far, so good.

They hired his brother, DanHow reliable is Dodd? I feel like I’ve always been told to not listen to anything he says. I don’t doubt the Lions talked to Campbell but I don’t trust the source.

If Matt is here for the next 8 years he'll probably make in the range of $40 million ($4/yr current contract plus incentives and future raises). Once you get to that level there's not much you can do with $68 million that you couldn't do with $40 million. So it's pretty reasonable to decide based on the job and lifestyle you want.
Definitely a difference in the water. Is there a difference in quality of life between Detroit and Ames?
Yep. We're talking about not just your kids never having to worry about money but now your grandkidsYou can do a lot with an extra $28 million. That’s starting to build multiple layers of generational wealth.
It's like taking the Bulls job. Some people just have better judgement. It's the Lions. Even the best coach in the history of football could lose there. The NFL front office is what defines and enables success for any team. Good coaching is needed, but not the most important.
CMC could have taken that job, done his best, and still been fired in 3 years for not being able to do the impossible. And retired on the buyout which was probably less than the full contract amount.
That is how good he is. Guys.... Matt Campbell CHOSE to stay in Ames, Iowa......The Lions were willing to pay Matt Campbell more than either well acclaimed coach from last year's Super Bowl.
Think about how good Matt Campbell is.
Not if you are not happy. Not trying to be a nag, but there is always more money out there somewhere. At some point you have to find your happy place. You can do a lot with an extra $28 million. That’s starting to build multiple layers of generational wealth.
Could substitute Iowa State in that sentence.Does Dodd know that he said “Lions” in that sentence?
What was the motivation for Bill Snyder? I'll bet he had a few offers along the way. Maybe not like this but who's counting.Matt's 41 years-old, so he could have taken that Lions contract and retired at 49 with...I don't know, 70-80 million.
Better get the mold for his statue ready.

I don't think any of us know what Campbell is thinking down the road. I tend to agree with this assessment. I mean how many millions of dollars do you need to live on?If Matt is here for the next 8 years he'll probably make in the range of $40 million ($4/yr current contract plus incentives and future raises). Haha. So you have? You've obviously never met a Russian Oligarch.

I wouldn't drink the water...Is there a difference in quality of life between Detroit and Ames?
There's the navigation and ocean storm thing.Depends if you want a nice yacht or not.
But seriously, how many 5* restaurants are there in Ames, Iowa? Hehe. Good one!Depends on what a person's tastes are, I suppose. I've run into Coach and his family eating at Old Chicago, here in Ames. So, you know he has expensive tastes. No cheap ass Dominos for the Campbells. No sir.
