He also played in the NBA and worked in an NBA front office. Two big connections.

If Campbell had played in the NFL and been an NFL assistant before being a head coach in college there would be a LOT more smoke about him having an NFL destination job.
Also Fred (as a student athlete) and Gar (as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator) were at ISU at the same time.

My only fear about CMC is that, with every year of success he has at Iowa State, the offers are just going to get bigger and better.

Hopefully his "unfinished business" is a national championship.

I know.

But "no longer out of the question." is probably accurate now.

So is keeping my 2-ply, stainless steel Cyclone nut cup.
I have several smartassed comments to make in reply but I feel like I can’t talk about it anymore or I will jinx it.

Some more options for CMC statue if there's not one of him holding it together after Randy asks a question although this might be one:

With 'to be honest with you' on the plaque.

But seriously:

This statue conversation is great entertainment. My vote is for point-and-scream pose, for two reasons. One, it's really expressive, like the Orr statue in Johnny's. Two, it's also perfectly adaptable- Matt uses that for expressing both pure rage towards a ref and pure celebration for a player's performance.

Cliff notes?
- Campbell is wired differently
- Campbell seems determined to do the impossible
- The offer is oddly specific and seems suspicious that that number is legit
- Ames is more fun to bash so let’s spend more time talking about that
