Way up there
Pac 12 is paying out 37 MM for this upcoming year it projects. That’s 5 MM below us. I think adding ISU/OSU would probably hold that. Adding 2 more to get an early slate of games should probably be able to hold that. Their deal expires in 24 so they will be negotiating soon. They probably would want to do something soon if they were going to.

I think we could survive on that reduction if still P5

They also have the first chance to do something unique like a pod system, with two rounds of championship play and could have 12 hours worth of games televised every weekend. They are struggling a bit but this could be the splash they are looking for.

I'm not saying let's leave now. I'm saying no more concessions to Texas and OU fully understanding what the implications would be if they do choose to leave.

Do you believe there's a long term future with OU and Texas if the rest of the conference gives more concessions? Hell, is there a long term future period?
I agree. Texas and Oklahoma are going to leave no matter what the rest of the Big 12 offers them. Let's make them stick to the deal they already signed, and limit the damage.

Not exactly sure.
So if we had 4 merge with the P12. Divisions could be b12 4/ Co/Ut/2 Az schools. (Ax schools would be 1 hour off for most of the season until daylight savings time.

I guess the UNLV game will give us a taste of what road games would be like out of division, and AZ.

So the non AZ schools would not be bad trips (TT and Ut would be kinda rough) and then 1 AZ and one cross division would be home so it would only be 2 games a year that would be a distance.

I hate 11 am games but if that is what keeps us P5, I’m done complaining about them.

No. By enforcing GoR it buys is a year to get things set and then maybe one to have it rolling. Otherwise recruiting will be hurt if it takes more than a year to be figured out. The second year can be called a transition year and be fine.

can’t wait a year to figure it out, needs to be done quickly…we have until the end of this football season or Campbell is gone

10 years ago yes.

Today we are in a much better position
I don’t buy it. Maybe all current teams in P5 are guaranteed a spot at the big boy’s table but absent that, despite all ISU has done to improve their position it still doesn’t change the bottom line which is that they aren’t going to move the needle and add additional $ to any current P5.

The PAC 12 would be a disaster for us. We would lose money and recruits, and we would end up playing the late night games that few people watch.

A disaster versus what other option? The Big 12 is dead.... that's not even an option. Of course the B1G is the best option, but if that doesn't happen then the PAC might be the best we can hope for.

Let's say we are aiming for the B1G. Aside from ND, which is going to the ACC if anything, who is better than ISU in terms of geography, multiple successful sports, and AAU?

Well... I think we agree. I would gladly take the PAC 12 over the MAC, etc...

But it would be a disaster compared to where we are now. That is what I was saying.

You know, how awesome would it be for a few years to let OU and UT go, add 4 trash teams at like a 25% share, and just make Fox and ESPN pay out the huge remaining contract. God it’d be delicious
I guarantee the contract has language that calls for renegotiation if teams are added or lost.
