Per Max Olson of The Athletic: The Pac 12 will announce its decision on whether it intends to expand before the end of the week, George Kliavkoff told @TheAthletic

Lets all hope the Pac 12 announces they are exploring every possible avenue of expansion with imminent plans to expand.
I know all kinds of “sources” have come out and said there’s no value in expansion, but why would the Pac-12 be waiting until later this week to announce that they aren’t going to expand?

That was a bluff lol. To just see if the Big 10 or ACC would bite. These conferences seem to put a lot of weight in to not being the first one to jump.

Because they don't want to step on the Alliance news. I fully expect they will say they aren't expanding now. I don't think anyone will so much as suggest anything is happening until, at the earliest, UT and OU make some move toward leaving for the SEC earlier than 2025. Which unfortunately means that this is likely going to be uncomfortable for months, maybe even into 2022, and maybe even longer than that if UT/OU decide SEC in 2022 is too expensive and they need to wait for 2023.

A bluff? Not so sure I buy that. I dont think the B1G/ACC/PAC 12 are playing hardball with one another. If anything I think the complete opposite, working together to ensure the SUM of college football outside of the SEC is healthy and thriving.

I'm confused here. So many people said we were screwed and heading toward Bowling Green status. Just bait for real football and basketball

We still are. Like I said earlier, Dave is a premium member here.

He’s helping to drive content and views. Plus the meltdowns will be epic

Could be, but it seems they could just as easily say they aren’t expanding and highlight the alliance as a reason why. That would probably add some juice to the alliance news.

Think about this logically. I’m not pretending to be an attorney, but how would an announcement help the schools left behind?

If you’re asserting tortuous harm in an effort to get as much money out of the three entities the rest of the conference teams are going to experience, what possible good would it do to say hey guys these schools are going to be in our conference when they get their paychecks from Disney?

Plus a chunk of that will be earmarked for admittance fees

(Un)surprisingly we have quite a few people that buy each and every word said at a press conference.

I'm not willing to say everything is all figured out, but I'm not naive enough to think there's not even a hint of BS with all these comments that were made by the alliance commissioners. It's public posturing and nothing more than that.

It’s not happening. We need to face the music. I keep reading posts about us having a top 10 football program. C’mon. Let’s be real. We are NOT a top ten program. If you believe that because we are ranked in top ten, then you must also believe that we have the worst P5 basketball program. We cannot have it both ways. It doesn’t work that way.

Programs are built over time on sustained results and tradition. As of right now, we have neither.

Iowa State has been ranked 66 weeks in the AP poll, which is 85 years of AP polling. That is less than one week, per year, in which they are considered one of the 20 or 25 best teams.

Four times (3 in the last year, including this preseason) they were in the top 10, with an all-time high of 7th this year.

In 82 of those 85 years, not a single week were they considered to be one of the ten best teams in the nation, and only one week in 2002, two in 2020, and the one week so far this year.

In 70 of those 85 years, there wasn't as single week in which they were ranked at anytime.

Their 66 poll appearances is good for 10th place in the current Big 12 conference, dead last by 43 weeks behind Kansas, who is 9th in the conference. Iowa State, historically, is the worst team as far as rankings in the Big 12 all-time, and it is not even close. They have been ranked 5.6% of the weeks, with an average ranking of 18th when they were ranked.

Sustained results are what builds a program. We are running, and may have already run, out of time.

Duh!
From what I've seen, there is no reporting on this.

You have Wanny saying something happened at the Fox meetings. You have no reporters or sourced individuals saying this. You've got one guy. That's not reporting, that heresay IMO, and he was hardly the only guy in those meetings. Again, when UT and OU went down, within the same day, we had all kinds of sports reporters confirming it and comments from heavy hitters within the conferences. We don't have any of that in this case. Again, if we get ACTUAL reporting on this, I'll change my tune.
All weve gotten to this point is one outlet will report something from an unnamed “source” and then every other outlet reports on that article/comment/rumor. The question becomes, wI’ll all the usual suspects jump on this too? Will it be lost in the Alliance coverage? This is the first named “source” we’ve had. I’m not saying he knows anything, but this is honestly some of the best “sourced” information yet.
