Notre Dame and the ACC is interesting. Obviously ND would like to remain independent but be included in the alliance as an ACC representative. Seems possible but Dabo came out a couple weeks ago speaking of the need for unequal distribution of revenue. To me that was more about getting ND in than Clemson.

For this to work they need an even number of teams but not necessarily an equal number of teams to the rest of the alliance. 16, 16 ND 14 work if two of the teams from the bigger conferences would simply play two teams from the other 16 school conference rather than one from each of the other two. This would also call for 8 game league schedules, havi g an odd numbers of teams requires an even number games to make scheduling work.

Now the question arises would alliance schools be willing to schedule ND if they are playing 8 conference and 2 alliance games? I really doubt it. This may be the bargaining chip needed by the ACC along with unequal revenue to get ND to finally join.

What? I mean Iowa State going to the Big 10. That is my hope. I don't see the Pac 12 happening based on the stuff I'm seeing. I have no idea what the Big 10 will do. Plenty of people don't think they will expand either, but I am hopeful.

What exactly are you seeing the the rest of us aren't?

He’s a troll.
I don't get what your deal is. If someone doesn't type exactly what you want to happen, they are immediately a troll. I'm trying to read reports from people that cover other major conferences to try to figure out what might happen. I hope we land in the Big Ten. I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just stating what I've gathered from Pac 12 reporters. If that somehow offends you, just block me or try to figure out how to be less delicate.

Just spit balling here but something I've been thinking a lot about is the Entertainment District. Could it be possible for JP to use this as a selling point/conference revenue source to help sweeten the deal for Iowa State?

It is becoming clear that while people with ESPN ties clearly want to make a case that the R8 have little value and few options except to stay with them in some hybrid AAC league, people with FOX ties are telling a very different story.

Say what you want about Wanny, he would be someone with significant insight to the thinking in the media offices of the BTN, PAC, and Fox.

His specifics matter less than what he's saying about the mindset of FOX and the conference alliance.

It does make sense to me that FOX would want this. If anyone gets CW Patreon, an expanded Big 12 going heavy on streaming with Amazon sounds like a real possibility.

FOX could think, we want to control as much CFB inventory as possible: let's keep Amazon out of the game by breaking up who they'd get into the Pac-12 and B1G. Let's also get the ACC to re-open their bad ESPN deal by taking WVU, and then we can try to get a piece of that as well. Suddenly FOX has media rights for the Pac-16, Big Ten, and ACC, which at that point is 75% of the power leagues.

Right now FOX only has a slice of 60% of the Power leagues and if Amazon gets the Big 12, FOX will only have 2 of the top 4/5 conferences. So going to four big power leagues, of which FOX has a slice of three, keeps them as relevant as possible. And also, they could leverage their connections with those leagues to get some of the really valuable expanded CFP games, instead of handing that entire contract over to ESPN.

Who knows what will happen but I'm not sure if Wannstedt is someone who would do this just to seek attention/clicks/whatever.

Has he done this type of thing in the past?

He's still somewhat relevant in media being on Fox so it's not like he's just coming out of the woodwork.

If I'm the Pac 12 I absolutely expand and the work with Amazon on getting the conference network of f the ground. There is a ridiculous amount of untapped potential there.

Big 12 expansion talks are being had. I think we should know more after the Pac 12 announces whether or not they are expanding in the next couple of days. Pac 12 reporters are saying they expect the Pac 12 to stand pat for now, which means most of the 12 will want to stay together. So we just have to hold out hope we get a Big 10 invite, but honestly, it's not looking good right now. That's why I think short term, expansion might be the only option for us.

The Big 12 didn’t hire Oliver Luck to expand a dying conference with UCF, Memphis, Houston, Cincinnati, and/or BYU.

Don’t think adding WV would open the ACC to Fox. It would just be a renegotiation with ESPN. Which could be a sticking point. Now if ND is possible……..

Here is one of many things I've seen, and this one is from a OSU reporter.

It’s like you don’t understand why all these conferences are “likely” not to expand - do you honestly think any of these conferences want to get pulled into the legal issues that are currently going on between the Big 12 and OuT and SECSPN? Nobody’s going to touch what’s left of the Big 12 until all of this is currently resolved, and then after that is when the conference will get divided up and cease to exist.

If I'm the ACC here is what I propose to ND. You have an invitation to join and you can bring your NBC contract along but you forfeit all other network tier 1 revenue and all playoff revenue will be shared equally. If they don't accept those terms then it's never going to happen IMO.

Short term I think the Big 12 expands. UCF, Memphis, Cincy, BYU, Houston all appear to be in the mix. Get the payout for Texas and OK, buy a few years and then hopefully we land in the Big 10 by 2025.

There's no way any of those schools would jump on board without a long term commitment.
