From all BYU fans - Thanks for the welcome
@nwcat Happy to have you! Your program is probably the best pick-up. How is this (realignment and BYU joining a new conference) being received among BYU fans / on the BYU boards right now?

BYU has wanted B12 affiliation for a long time (really since 1996 when we thought it might happen and then again in 2011 and 2016). The BYU board (cougarboard.com) is trilled. We have had a great football schedule in September and October, but no meaningful November games for a decade. Now we get a really great schedule and meaningful November games. We have loved playing Gonzaga every year in basketball but now get KU, Baylor, ISU, TT, WVa and the rest. I had hoped for games starting in 2022, but 2023 will come soon enough.

Lots of issues with college football and athletics going forward, but this is an exciting day for BYU

Hey not to go negative here but GOOD LORD your board is hard to read. I just gave up after a little bit. Maybe with some of this Big 12 cash you can upgrade that bad boy.

I agree that Cougarboard can be a really hard read - so many posts that it becomes almost a chat room.

The Top 10 posts on the right side of the page give a good overview of the more significant topics

Welcome aboard!

One item. We have 1 too many "Cougars" in the conference now.

Have you considered a name change? Maybe something like the BYU Longhorns or BYU Sooners?

We need to eliminate confusion while growing the Big 12 brand

I had a similar thought but with Houston Cougars already having similar colors to Ou... Houston Sooners or Houston Boomers (a play on aerospace/NASA). Maybe no one would notice :jimlad:

Assuming those 4 go B1G... Utah and Az St would both be better than Cal imho. Side note, why Stanford and not UCLA? Seems like UCLA would be the much better brand. And if that was the case, then you really just stick to Az, Az St, Colo, and Utah. At least they are all big state schools, and pair well with BYU, Tech, and each other.

The real question would be do you just take all 8 and go to 20 teams, have east and west that don't really interact much. Or pods and a 4 team CCG process. Lots o' inventory at least, and coast to coast...

I still think it's more likely the Pac/B1G raids the Big12 than B1G raids the PAC. Just my onion.
I like playing every conference opponent each year. But see no reason fans wouldn't get used to NOT playing teams frequently that aren't geographically close.

So I could definitely see the Big10 adding 6-8 Pac12 teams. The key is having a core group of annual opponents and add a few cross country opponents.
