article was posted before Marty took a call from Stoops that said he was not the guy.

I actually had a friend call me and said radio stations in OK were reporting that Stoops was our new coach.

I still hold out hope that it won't be Stoops, if only based on the fact that that report seems to connect the dots awfully loosely and with no sourcing (not even the usual "from boosters" or "dentists") :skeptical:

Even assuming this is true, asking permission to talk to a coach isn't the same as offering a job...at least that's what I'll keep telling myself until this is officially confirmed true or bogus...

If he is the coach they are obviously trying to wait for the bowl game to end to announce it. But you know how often radio stations are correct on new coaching hires?!? 0.00% of the time.

I think it is mostly old info being recycled, but something tells me that the Stoops situation is not done yet.

One thing I don't understand about that article is:
.....Iowa State is expected ask permission to talk with Arizona head coach Mike Stoops.....

ISU will reportedly offer him a deal of five years and around $1.3 million dollars per year.

Why would ISU be offering when they haven't even talked to Stoops yet- smells kind of fishy.

I'm with you, I don't think we are out of the woodwork with Stooper just yet.

The more I read about this though (and based on how early it was released) this looks more and more like a negotiation by Stoops to get a better gig with Arizona. I'm fairly confident in this.
