Not sure I'd go that far although the drop off didn't look too drastic.

The only time UNLV put a drive together was against reserves.
There were 2s and 3s in on that drive. Looked like a few regulars got subbed back in to halt that drive. They definitely gave up some chunks.

My question is why didn't Manning have that game plan for Iowa? or did someone else call the plays

There was a bit they did quoting Purdy for saying he needed to just do what he could, not try to do too much.

I'm curious if that has been preached to him and it took another game like last week to get his attention.

ISU's pace was better but that type of space wouldn't have been available last week.

The only concern I had was the level of futility the offensive line had from the one. We just couldn’t gain an easy yard.

On any given Saturday, you see teams in this situation (Like OU/NU yesterday), and inevitably the team at the 1-yd line has some kind of play action/wide run/etc. that gets an easy TD. ISU doesn't seem to have a play like that, and defenses probably know that, which makes it all the harder to pound a back through the line when the defense knows what is coming.

While Purdy played much better he still had a fumble and one pass the should have been picked off. He really needs to take better care of the ball.

That was the most blitzes I have seen by ISU in a long time. The defense was incredible. Hall looks like he has added some muscle, I hope he goes with pushing instead of diving over the goal line next time. Purdy made some really good throws - good game. The defensive backs for UNLV were horrible at coverage, that makes the ISU passing game hard to judge. Special teams were outstanding - except for our one kickoff that looked like it was deliberately kicked out of bounds. I was expecting a lot more from Dekkers - his throws were way off target.

OU runs that play action to their FB to perfection. I think they scored on that twice at JTS last year. They sell the power so well.

ISU pretty much abandoned the run once they figured out UNLV wasn’t even going to try to cover. Played 10 yards off and just let ISU receivers go wherever the hell they wanted to go. X could have had 20 catches had he played the entire game.

Aaron Taylor was saying "all rules are off" in college football now.

And that UNLV should use the NIL to get players.

Is this why the SEC teams are openly recruiting TCU"s 5 star freshman RB?

It sure is.

Yep. And why any and all talent, recruited or developed will be open game. This is just where you hope the players love for team and coach overrides the love of money. Because it will be very difficult to keep the Mike Roses of the world for more than 2 years if/when the money starts calling. I could see UNLV being a power if all that money down their gets interested in college football.

Way up there
Still looking for a second WR. Loved seeing X have a big night but we gotta spread the ball around. Brock was much more accurate but he still had a bit of tunnel vision, he just locks on to that first target. Hopefully last night gave him some confidence and the game can slow down a bit for him so he can start getting other guys involved.

Yep...UNLV just decided to put 7-8 in box and slow down the run and mostly play Man coverage. ISU receivers were open alot.

One thing I think helped was we were playing on a much faster turf. UNLV is really bad and that game could have easily been 38-0 at half..prob should have been honestly.

What is odd is UNLV D gave ASU some fits previous week..was a 14-10 game in 3rd qtr..

I really think this offense and running game of ISU would be much better served by having Eli Sanders or Salis in occasinally running a reverse or sweep or outside run play every now and then.

I think teams have figured out our Inside zone read running game and Breece is not exactly the quickest to the hole.

I thought Purdy was really good...outside the fumble.

CMC said Salis got a sprained ankle last week of camp so had been out first 2 weeks... We heard Breece was a little dinged and Kolar missed first game as has Shaw.

I think we had more injuries than we knew and its taken some time to gel on offense.
