Wow I was pumped about this hire until I saw that. One thing I know is that to be a good coach you have to radiate self-confidence and project that unto your players. All he did was cry like a baby, kind of like all you wimps on this site.

I decided today that I am going to save our football program. I am going to become a coach, and you can see me in about 15-20 years when I make it to the level required. Until then, enjoy your vaseline-covered hinies being rubbed and promised a good future while terrible coaches and teams file through.

Wow......leave the sandbox and take your little debbie downer friends with yah to catch the next train out of town. I value all of the peoples input on this site, may not always agree, but some of you should not spend time with people that are impressionable like kids, teens.... You know people looking for examples to mimic and contribute to society rather than living off of it. Take your black cloud with yah.......!

I thought he did a good job but it's funny how the fans reaction is always the same.

#1 Coach gets fired. Half the people hate the idea the other half love it.
#2 Coaching search happens and every big name is thrown that they are going to be the next ISU head coach
#3 Reality hits and we hire someone without a big name
#4 At first the fans are a little apprehensive
#5 JP holds a press conference and everyone starts going nuts
#6 fans expectations fo crazy and by the end of August fans are talking about bowl games
#7 Football season starts.

I'm not saying that this wasn't a good hire (who knows?). It's just funny that I've seen this every time a new ISU coach has been hired.

Very true.

I hadn't even heard of Paul Rhoads until this morning so I wasn't super excited about the hire. I have a better feel for the guy and more confidence after this press conference. I was questioning if I would renew tickets for next year (leaning toward "yes") and I think now we're definitely going to.

#1 thing I noticed was his passion, that was definitely lacking with gene. The fire and emotion in his speech made me feel pretty good about the hire, but obviously it all comes down to Ws and Ls. I hope he can coach and recruit as well as he can speak!

On a side note, my favorite part of the press conference...he kept the freaking hat on for more than 2 seconds!!! I was at gene's presser and I believe he put the hat on for a few seconds and immediately took it off. At least coach Rhoads kept it on for his initial speech and took it off for questions.

I don't know if someone commented on this earlier in the thread, as I didn't read all the posts, but I liked President G's comments about making it a priority to hire a coach that had strong ethics and loyalty. A little dig at Chizik perhaps.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I will agree with one thing that CPR said though. "Right now, Jamie is doing a great job at selling hope."

This is exactly what happened when W.F. Finney was hired before the 1893 season. Then reality hit and we went 0-3.

He's certainly seems more personable and passionate than the previous guy. I remember the previous guy's introductory press conference and he seemed wide-eyed and a little reticent . Sucks to be Auburn!!!! :biglaugh:

We have to be the luckiest fanbase in the country. First all three networks carried the presser live, you can't buy better pub than that. Then Paul came off as totally likeable, handsome and well spoken speaker.

But where we really got lucky was Auburn took dead weight off our hands and paid us 3/4 of a million to do it. We didn't have to go through another year with no hope. We don't know if Paul is going to work out but at least there is hope.
