I'm re-watching the game. I don't know if I've ever seen a highly ranked team so inept on offense. Part of that is our defense but I wonder if part of it is that Memphis is so over-rated. I looked at their scheduling and they have Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and Wichita State in the next few weeks. We'll know a lot more about Memphis after that stretch.

They will have the best "talent" on the floor of any team ISU plays this year, but they are very young and struggling playing as a team. Their two best players were in high school last year, and I am sure could just dominate a game on their athletic ability. They ran into an ISU team that is playing high quality defense, and getting enough offense to win games now.
Teams that play defense and hustle will always go further than teams that just tried to outscore everyone like we were trying to do under Fred and Prohm.

Defense travels on the road, the same cannot be said about offense, that is why Larry E. won real conference championships not just tournament titles.

The line ups/rotations have been seamless so far.

Likely to get tripped up by someone like Self but I like the start.

I agree, coaches are just too good in the big 12 to not find holes but I think the bench is set up perfect. Those 4 bring a lot of different skills, allow you match up with most teams and have started dozens of games at the d1 level, mostly at high major schools. No one has a bench with experience like that.

I think this team is for real but now everybody else is on notice. Not going to be any half efforts after we embarrassed two good teams like that. TJ is not here to **** around and the defense we are playing with is the real deal. Teams will hate playing us.

Tyrese Hunter will not be here 4 years, he is really really good.

Well Xavier and Memphis showed that playing hard doesn't necessarily work vs. this ISU team.

Right now off the top of my head the 5 in this order......

Morris
Hunter
Hornacek
Blalock

And he has only played 6 games. You don't see very many points his size take it to the trees and win. Hopefully he is here one more year with the Ames kid.

What blows my mind is that only 6 games in, this team already has 2 high quality wins for a potential tournament resume.

If we take care of business against Creighton and Iowa (let's say we split), beat Mizzou at home in January....if we end up with a 12-1 non-conference record I think we go to the NIT at minimum. Can't believe I'm typing that with a first year coach trying to rebuild from the last two seasons.

He's got a nice touch when he can drive to the basket. There will be plenty of opportunities to utilize him if he keeps improving and has good games.

This is the first post I have made on a sports team forum since Trump became president, and the first game I have watched since 2019. I used to be a great fan of basketball but got frustrated when I couldn't get ISU games with any regularity in the state that I am currently living without spending a fortune. I knew however when Otzelberger became head coach we were going to have a resurgence in the program, and I am frankly surprised at how soon it has come. Watched the game last night, and it was great, like being back in the Floyd, McDermott days.

Did you watch the Duke-Gonzaga game? Bolton looks like the same old player. A chucker who can put up points quickly but doesn't play a lick of defense and doesn't seem to want to run the offense.

Judging by last year I doubt either of them would have fit with what TJ is trying to implement here. I assume that's why Hinson left, he was told to play D or sit the bench.

And while Foster complaing about minutes on twitter at game 2 last year was funny because lolprohm, in a program where you're trying to build hard work and earning everything I wouldn't say that you'd want guys who are acting entitled to start or minutes because the name on the back of the jersey

Sorry, Eustachy was what I meant to say, and I say that because of the defense. Floyd, Eustachy were both good with defense, this team reminds me of Eustachy's teams which he was in control of his faculties.

Both of the players you speak of reclassified and should have been HS seniors this year.
