Another tidbit from after the game yesterday- I was talking to Conditt’s dad and he said George was telling him last summer to watch out this year because TJ and this team were different. Sounded like he was saying to him he would believe it when he saw it. Looks like George bought in last summer. His dad also got a good chuckle when I showed him my phone wallpaper shot of PAClone and George on the beach in the Bahamas!

And he has only played 6 games. You don't see very many points his size take it to the trees and win.

He has the athletic ability to just hang in the air at the rim longer than the opponent can, giving him the opportunity to finish. Very impressive

Beating the dead horse but I really want to know Conditt's experiences with both coaches and why things work or don't.

Not just a general 'because the coach was bad'. Like what was practice like, huddles, communication, team building, etc.

Interesting the announcer (Fran) must have said 3 times last night Hunter will be at ISU for 4 years, not sure what he meant by that.
It took Monte 4 years of college plus a year in the G League to be ready for the NBA. Hunter is not more polished than Monte was and, like Big Game at this stage, is not a knock-down shooter. He is more springy and quick than Monte but making it in the NBA is not easy for short (by basketball standards) guys even with physical gifts (see Wigginton, Lindell).

I've been wrong on these evaluations but I don't see him ready for the NBA after 2 years at ISU. He could very well be a 4-year guy.

Hell if he left after this year for the league I'd be fine with it--there's no question that he's all about anything he can do to make ISU basketball successful.

I think Green is working with more length and athleticism than he did at UNI. That is probably much of the difference.

Maybe depth too?

So far subs have been serviceable if someone gets in trouble.

Absolutely correct. You can take defense to a different level with guys like Kalscheur and Brockington.

Conditt looks so happy just to be a part of this.

props to him—I honestly didn’t think he had it in him but (as he said) it’s time to prove people like me wrong. Never been so happy to eat crow. I’ll eat crow every day if it means ISU wins.

Not beating a dead horse, some players respond better to different methods. Jameel McKay loved to play under Fred, but hated Prohm because from rumors Prohm made him go to class/practice. Remember when he basically checked out half way through the 15-16 season?

I also have noticed Conditt is not really posing and jawing like he use to and seems much more focused. Maybe that has to do with being one of two bigs ISU has now, and/or his last chance as a senior or that TJ is a better fit for him even though he is a Prohm recruit. It happens.

I don't mind players talking a bit but imo CSP let it go too far or just didn't manage it. Loved Hali but man would he talk major **** to the opposing bench.

I got dragged for pointing it out but I thought it looked bad especially on such a bad team.

Fwiw I was with CSP on holding McKay accountable if that really was the case. I'm not sure if he was very good at the 'this is where I stand, this is where you stand' deal though.

I think the biggest real difference here might be that if a player won’t buy in to TJs demands, he gets rid of them instead of keeping them around in the doghouse and poisoning the well.

You are probably right.......but with a bad year in 17-18 and people already breathing down his throat for not being Fred his first two years.......maybe he thought the risk was worth the stretch. Right now TJ is under no pressure at all and with everyone hoping for just 10 wins at the start of the year he is playing with house money. For what it's worth.....IMO Prohm's biggest mistake with personnel was Lard. Too much time trying to make one person right.
