I assume you all have heading your way what we are getting this morning.

No storms here but unbelievable winds. 70+ mph at our place with 100+ recorded on some peaks. So whatever it is, it it is heading there in a hurry. Stay safe.

A friend of mine who use to live in Boulder says they use tape all their large windows due to the frequency of high winds. Is that true?

Not exactly sure.
Moldboard is turning it over black. VT is drastically less so.

I think about when I was a kid and everything got turned over black. It's not at all like that these days.
VT then TT and a heavy disk ripping gets it nearly the same as moldboarding.

A severe weather thread turned into a nice discussion of current soil conservation practices throughout the state of Iowa, CF at its best today.

Should we talk about buffer strips and water conservation now?

Some do, if you are in a canyon like the one that runs up to Eldora from Boulder, you can get some incredibly damaging winds (Hurricane strength) maybe a couple of times a year. Same if you are exposed on the side of a mountain. We are off the front range a few miles so more sustained, less gusty winds. Boulder and Larimer county are essentially one big dust cloud right now.

Or maybe it is a big pot cloud, who knows around here.

Part of one of the warnings out for Freeborn County/Albert Lea, were it is presently 66 degrees!: ...widespread wind damage from gusts possibly exceeding 80mph {{doh!}} will accompany the storms. Snow is melting so fast you can almost see it go...
