He's [Loney] an ISU alum, dedicated to ISU, didn't get a sniff(or a call) at the job either time, and for that Pollard should be ashamed.

Loney is from the Dan McCarney (i.e. pre-Pollard) era. There is no way Pollard would ever grant him an interview let alone consider hiring him. Pollard is looking forward, not backward -- didn't you read the brochure? Jamie is taking us to the "next big step".

Does anyone else get aggravated when they see an IMO in a post? I assume it's your opinion unless you tag a story or attribute it to someone else. Seems redundant on a message board.

Interesting. For me, just the opposite.

Because I consider absolute statements a high rudeness. It's as though a person guilty of such an approach is claiming infallibility, IMHO. Or at least superiority, that no one else's opinion can compete with the one sure truth possessed by the author of the statement. This is what most riles me on boards such as these. (Hence, the reason behind the signature I choose to include.)

Almost always my posts carry disclaimers such as "IMHO", or "I think," or "I'm not sure but . . .", or "What do I know?". . . . I do not want someone to believe that I think my opinion is a certitude beyond any question. Human beings are flawed, each and every one of us. I loath the person who fails to acknowledge his imperfection but pretends to be a human ideal.

Never would I have suspected that someone would find an unpretentious and courteous style of discourse to be aggravating. My eyes have been opened. I thank you for that.

Barney had never coached zone blocking? That explains a lot then.

Yeah, I thought it an explanation of some of the OLine's difficulties. I recall that this claim was bandied about a bit during the 2006 season, IIRC it came from a highly knowledgeable source. I don't know if the observation was accurate, or not.

It's one reason I wasn't willing to tar and feather BC like so many here wanted to do to him (another reason is that I'm a non-violent sort ;-) How did NU's line perform this season? OK? If so, Barney's most likely teaching what he knows best.

I don't care it we run the spread, the spread eagle, the golden eagle, the pro set, the run and shoot, the air coryell, the power I, the wishbone option, the wing T or the Ankeny misdirection as long as we can win some darn football games. We should have the backs for the last two.

forget about chizzlestick.he reminds me of 40,000 prussian soldiers that have walked thru an iowa feedlot and got cowcrap on their boots.
then they walked in my mouth and wiped their boots. that is the taste i have left in my mouth that currently reminds of chizzlestick. if i ever see that SOB within 3 feet of me i have a good right fist ,i will repay him for what he did to our football program.
get over it. i'm over it until he is staring me in the face someday.

get behind paul rhoads and his staff, faculty, students and fellow cyclones and support them. we can become a WINNER.it is all in our heads. think positive and we can be back in the johnny majors and earl bruce days if geoffroy will support the program-we had a great supporter in president jimmy hilton. president robert parks was a complete loser when supporting our athletic programs, but the athletic program paid part of his salary.
we will never have another jimmy hilton.jimmy started as an extension agent in greene county in the mid 1920's . he knew my dad real well from there he got his ph.d. and went on to become pres. of isu.
jimmy was an alpha gamma rho. he got his fraternity brother C.Y. STEPHENS an old dairy food and industry guy to pony up millions of dollars for starting jack trice, hilton colesium, and the stephens theater.
robert parks did nothing for isu athletics. in fact we went backwards
with some poor coaching hires-i have not read geoffroy's tea leaves and i don't know his support for athletics.
he and pollard signed off on chizzlestik and i think they both got chizzed!!!!!
build a staff that can recruit minn, iowa, wisc, iilinois, ind, ohio,pa wv,kentucky.
get another recruiter for florida,ga,alabama, miss and la.
get another that can do mizzou,nebr.colo,kansas.
get another two that can recruit texas and oklahoma.
sick another one on california.

we have about 35-40 days left to get some defensive studs and offensive studs-
if you have a good recruit that has not signed with anyone, get on the phone to the iowa state foorball offices and ask for fountain-and give him your prize recruit- their football no is 1-800-478-0056. i am certain the secretary will answer the phone and just give her the name with your prized unsigned recruits and we will be fine for next year.
i have a bookend skinny receiver from texas who is just about like darks. he is 6-4 about 175-185 and runs a 4.3 to 4.4 40-he can be a bookend for darks or johnsen-we need to jump on him quick monday.

OK, I'll try to get this back in the right direction. Houston is playing Air Force on ESPN right now if anyone is interested. There has been some talk and enthusiasm over Houston OC Dana Holgorsen, and this is a good chance to see his offense in action.
