Oxford, MS ain’t exactly close to PA… probably more to this than just proximity to family

It's probably further

Not to sound biased, but I don't see Ole Miss that much closer to a potential better record, or conference championship or even a playoff spot than ISU. But it is getting to play in the SEC, I guess. Who knows....Isheem just wanted a change of scenery maybe, and knew most of his teammates would be graduating.

Considering Ole Piss is in the East with Bama the math checks out...

If you think Young got beat out at Iowa State, then was looking to go to Penn State, Georga, or Ole Miss for a better opportunity for playing time you are delusional. Your theory checks out if he is looking at the MAC.

It makes everyone feel real good to say the best DB we've had here in awhile was beat out by freshmen so he left but in reality it wasn't likely that. For one thing, we have three safety spots so there's room for all of them.

It wasn't NIL and it wasn't a rational fear of losing playing time or being out-performed. I suppose he could have left in fear he was going to get replaced but that wouldn't have been rational. My guess is there was something else going on here and it was time for him to move on which is completely fine.

just because he got beat out doesn’t mean he isn’t worthy of a spot on one of those teams. Young is a stud who hits like a freight train. Most teams would welcome him with open arms (and not knowing what happened here, I’m guessing our staff probably would’ve preferred him to stay), but to say that freyler wasn’t taking time from him and not do some things better than young is false as well. It’s more of a both/and situation in my opinion.

Yeah because there is no way ISU could have a player better than those schools right?

You see Sabans quote about NIL?

"You're going to have the haves and have nots, and the separation that is already there is going to grow larger," Smart said. "The schools that have the capacity and the ability and are more competitive in the NIL market are going to be schools that step ahead on top of other schools. So I don't want [recruiting] decisions to be based on that, but ultimately a lot of young men want to make their decision based on that."

AKA "I get paid 10.6 million per year, the recruiting model so far has completely benefitted me and I don't want it to change".

Yeah, I don't think that he got beat out at all. I do think that if he would have stayed, there would be more of a rotation than there was this past season.

I'm actually with you. Look at the announcement he posted and compare it with almost every other one, like Scates'. Pretty clear other guys' were put together by the program with the standard look of ISU social media stuff. I don't think we'll ever get the full story though.

Freyler probably wasn't the cause of Isheem leaving, but the way he stepped up against Clemson makes me feel a lot less bad about the loss.
