Can't wait to come back to this thread in two years and say "I TOLD YOU SO!"
You don't need to wait that long. Might as well start now.
Edit: I was a party pooper in this thread and I'll own it.

The Fred and Campbell hires were very similar, yet weren't labeled as "buddy hires". Buddy or not, it is how JP has operated the past few coaching searches.i didn't like the hiring process.
let be honest, it was "the buddy" hire and we'll see if we can maintain it.
This season is a for sure shocker.

Ranking the Pollard hires for football and MBB...
Campbell
TJO
Hoiberg
Rhoads
McDermott
Prohm
Chizik
I colored red the ones where Pollard went and "got his man." He was various levels of buds with the ones in red -- TJ more than anybody -- but those all involved Pollard moving quickly.
I colored blue the ones where Pollard followed a multiparty "process."
You might quibble with some of those rankings... e.g., was Campbell a better hire than TJO or Hoiberg... but I don't think there would be many serious arguments the last two were the worst.
Turns out Jamie does better when he knows who he wants and goes and gets him.
Certainly worked for TJO without some "process."
me controlling my emotions as i heard the news:
This is incorrectFred, yes to an extent.
JP had a very good relationship with TJ b/c of Fred.
Campbell and JP weren't necessarily "buddies". I'm sure they knew of each other.
I would only put Prohm ahead of McDermott. Old Mc never went above .500. Kind of sad really. I get that Prohm's best years were with Hoiberg's players, but at least we got back to the tournament after our first down year. Then the wheels came off.
Definitely a good choice for someone who can come in and hit the ground running in retaining our recruits and players, and to jump on the recruiting trail to fill out the roster. Hopefully he can bring an exciting brand of basketball and get Hilton back to where it should be.
What in the flying f*ck is this???
Sure, I create a meme involving Bruce Weber and Caleb Grill's member and it get's deleted. But some guy pounding his balls by a fire lives on for a year?!! #treatnutsfairlypre-game routine for otz and the boys.

Take a look at the situations each inherited. Steve Prohm isn’t qualified to hold McDermotts jock.I would only put Prohm ahead of McDermott. Old Mc never went above .500. Kind of sad really. How extensive were both searches?
CMC had been pretty good at Toledo although maybe just a little better than their history, and Fred had no coaching experience.
I'll stay on the '3 year window' for TJ still as it is about the longevity. At least a foundation is being set which is a good start.

You're absolutely insane if you rank TJ ahead of Hoiberg at this point in timeRanking the Pollard hires for football and MBB...
