Self awareness must not be in the house for KU fans.
Oh they don’t care. Thumbing their nose at NCAA and FBI. Self with $$$ gold necklace during vulgar snoop late night event. Chancellor choosing to double down and support Self over integrity of university. Profs and Administrators must be dismayed.

One thing to keep in mind that we often don't as fans - the #1 most important thing in a job is your boss. Maybe Underwood doesn't like the Illinois AD, President and boosters. If that is true (and I have no idea) and he likes the KSU people, then even a pay cut (that would probably come with more job security) could easily be more attractive to him. Even though we all see Illinois has better recruiting grounds and cash and thus easier to succeed.

Would you prefer $3M per year and work with your buddies, or $4M per year to work with a bunch of a-holes?
This became clear to many people during the pandemic. People have chosen to work harder and make less vs being miserable.

At that rate, I'd try either for one year. I've done both for far less!

Better success in the 50' and 60's does not make it a better job for a coach looking today. KSU has had little to no success in my lifetime. Also, your 2013 championship was shared with KU who beat you 3 times that season by a combined 42 points, so that's really just a technicality.
Here's another technicality. That shared 2013 championship should have been an outright KSU championship. But KU was gifted a game in Ames that kept them in the hunt for the championship.

Honestly, no I don't care. Especially for the situations like Michael Beasley where the kid got "illegal" money from a person or company that is just looking to get in the good graces of the player and family. My guess is that every single P5 program has had some players go through them who had gotten money the ncaa says they shouldn't have had.

Same sad excuse now being used by LSU fans. Does KU pay off girlfriends too?

Honestly I wouldn't care either, especially with the new rules it would have all been above board if it could have been.

For the record, and it's in a long story but I'm in a Facebook group of a bunch of professors and administrators from UNC... and they didn't care one bit about UNC's stuff, and that was straight up academic fraud.

Every school Underwood has coached at had NCAA sanctions come down after he left. If he does leave Illinois, I expect the NCAA to begin investigating the Illini. Underwood's interest in K-State could be to get out before the NCAA starts poking around.

As I have written before, I believe Underwood's success at Urbana has been the direct result of Orlando Antiqua's recruiting, not Brad. And, I believe Jerome Tang would out recruit Underwood as K-State's coach. This game is all about Jimmys and Joes. That's why I prefer Tang. And yes, Underwood, like Frank Martin, has a certain unpleasantness surrounding his past activities.

By the way, the “everyone else is doing it” excuse has gotta be the weakest excuse ever.

Word is that after long, deliberate, and thoughtful consideration, Brad Underwood has said, “thanks, but no thanks.” Focus now on Tang.
