Wesley Staten

I had the opportunity to watch Wesley Staten last night. His West Sioux City squad was in town to play the Storm Lake Tornadoes. West won easily 69 - 53. Neither team is a title condender.

Wesley is very quick and very athletic. Wesley had 19 points and probably 6 rebounds. He also had a handful of turnovers. He didn't show much of an outside game (he didn't have to). I was impressed with his demeaner. He seemed to be very intense, yet never once did he loose control of his emotions. I really liked his attitude.

He is only a Freshmen. He should be fun to watch. I can't wait to see him in a Cyclone uniform.

dirty river vs. nice lake... I'm thinking Storm Lake.

My in laws own a house on Storm Lake and its not THAT nice of a lake. Maybe its gotten better since they have finished dredging it. But I wasnt talking about the Lake part of town.

haha i was aware of that. It's a nice lake in the fact you don't have to put up with so many stupid people on it... see Saylorville.

Ummm I'm originally from around there... That lake is not nice... Far from it. Tyson's drain and most storm sewers lead to the lake. Trust me I know. (Worked there and know all secrets)

Plus, the lake had to prohibit people from swimming in it last summer because of bacterial numbers.

Both towns are terrible.... I still think Sioux City is working at cleaning it up more.

I've had the privilege to live in both towns... and they are both pretty much equally terrible, but I would have to say Sioux City wins in terribleness just because it is larger... Being in Ames is almost like living in Orange County compared to what I'm used to.. maybe the hyperbole is a little strong, but still

Very true. Problem is, we have so many baby boomers who choose to do what they have always done in the top spots. FEAR THE CHANGE! The up and comers dont have the foothold yet to make they changes they want. Im sure alot of places suffer from this. Its getting there though. One biggie is the city's push to relocate John Morrell off of I29. John Morrell doesnt want to spend the money and Sioux City is offering to help to an extent.

But to be on topic. Staten sounds very promising and I hope to get to some of his games soon.

Funny. Muscatine has made a lot of positive changes the last five years or a few more...because the Boomers were finally in charge.

But which town has better Pizza? Bar B Q?

I'm glad you bring this up. I miss the local food of Sioux City. I'll argue to the death that Sioux City has the best pizza anywhere. Jerry's Pizza and El Fredo's has yet to be matched. Townhouse has the best buffalo wings anywhere (although The Peanut in Kansas City is a close second).

Sioux City is my hometown and I love the place. I don't live there but I'll stand up for it when people bag on it.

I've had the fortune (?) of living in the "suburbs" of both Sioux City and Storm Lake. If I were to generalize, I would say that Sioux City is getting better, and Storm Lake is getting worse.
