I’m guessing a brand new director of ops at Iowa state might not make that though. Byers has like 12 years in.
It wouldn't make sense to go from #2 at UNI to #4/#5 at ISU without a big pay bump.
I know you're thinking he gets a raise, but why are you labeling him a brand new Director of Ops, or in this case Director of Player Development and Recruiting (Schmidt's old role)? He's been a coach for 14 seasons, including two years as assistant director of ops at Iowa St.
TJ shouldn't have any trouble getting JP to sign off on Crawford, as Director of Player Development, getting Byers money. That's a discount on a guy that would otherwise would be a candidate for #2 or #3 bench coach.
Schmidt likely isn't going to make exactly where DRob left off, so Crawford getting Byers pay is likely not a big change in budget. Adding another bump for getting basically another #3 coach in the program, and now Crawford is making around 100k more than at UNI, without being on the road, while at least maintaining in his career ladder.
