Oh this is exactly what this is about.
I'm not very loyal if being loyal means i have to pay lots of money to an NIL fund that has no intention of using their name image or likeness. I have isu shirts, polos, sweat pants, hoodies, pull overs, shorts, cycling jersey, beer glasses, cocktail glasses, golf rag, tees, a lamp, framed photo of Hilton and cy, a damn degree, ring from my grandpa who was on the athletics council.

My grandpa taught there, my parents went there and are from ames. All my siblings and my spouse graduated from there.

If that isn't enough to be considered a loyal iowa stater then **** it.

Not exactly sure.
I was just always under the impression they couldn't. Just for the reason that the NCAA didn't want an athlete getting payed an extreme amount of money to stock shelves at the local mom and pop grocery store over a normal employee. An example would be a 5 Star PG making $500.00 an hour for working 10 hours a week.
It happens. Straight cash homie.

Not talking just ISU here, but imagine if all this NIL money actually went into feeding the hungry, creating infrastructure that benefits mankind, and making the world better. This is a straight up waste (and more so at the "blue bloods" --- read - inbred royalty schools --- who are dropping millions upon millions).

I'm not sure how to feel about it. I agree with the idea of players sharing in the proceeds because they have been taken advantage of long enough. I'm not in favor of this becoming a burden on fans to see if we can pay to win. I'm just not sure how this plays out. It looks like it is going to be a huge disaster.

And this just isn't boosters who want to drop a few hundred grand here and there, this is about pushing the average fan into a form of taxation to show they are a true fan.

I think things might stabilize to a reasonable place, but that isn't how things are looking right now.

I am going to keep an open mind about this. There are some things the collective could do to entice me to send something their way. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t receive a request for money. I do like that ISU has been taking their time to think this out, and noticed all indications are that, they are making a serious inquiry into this. Will be interested in the plan, the vision, and the options.

I think the players should pay me for my fandom. How about that?

Starting a new movement as my fandom has been taken advantage of over the years of spending countless amounts of money to support the team but the return isn’t equal to the input.
You want to play in front of a full house? Better open up your wallets.

Yes my comments are incredibly stupid as is NIL.

I'll donate some (couple hundred) but I can see both points of view with all of this.

I'd be much more willing to have my kids take a photo with athletes and pay them.

To answer the original post I plan to give $20 a month. I’d prefer if all NIL money had to come with an attempt to get a return on investment but since that is clearly not the case I plan on giving what I can to help ISU remain competitive. I also hope to donate my time if the “We Will” fund needs any help with event coordination since I do live in Ames.

If you were just 'under the impression', why state it as fact?

I think we would have better luck getting a very small amount from alot of people rather than asking for large amounts on top of what everyone already gives. If the amount of people that fill jack trice every sat gave .50 cents a day it would be 210,000 per week.

Cracks me up when people break down a cost by day to make it sound like less than it is. Maybe you should get Sarah McLachlan to do a commercial for us

I understand where you're coming from, but I gotta disagree. My 2 kids aren't going to pay $0.50/day, so I guess I would then shoulder their $30/month in your scenario (on top of my own)? I think they'll have better luck getting more from the minority that seem to be on board with it than getting some from all. Just on here you can tell it's a non starter for a large portion of our fan base (me included).

It’s interesting how so many “fans” proudly tell others how they hope ISU sports fail.
I think whether you donate or not to anything is really up to you.
Chris has had fundraisers on here for cancer, people that didn't donate to that don't hope for it to spread, they may have to worry about their own family/finances first. That doesn't make them bad.
People just need to relax a little bit with it all.
