Will be incredibly interested to understand how it gets paid out. Who decides which athletes get any or what percentage of the money. Is this just for basketball?

I think it’s naive to believe fans will be able to put a team on the payroll
I believe they do charity work in order to get the NIL

This is the new world if we want to be able to compete. Hopefully the NCAA will put some limits on it in the future.

So wait. The collective money doesn’t even go to the athletes but charities? Am I reading this right?
No, in order for the athletes to get NIL money from this collective, they have to do something for a charity. Whether its a golf fundraiser for a charity or signing autographs to raise money for a charity. They need to do something rather than just pay to play.

And who gets to choose what athletes get the money? Will they be fired like a gm if they pay a bunch of duds. This is going to be wild to see how it plays out

I’m guessing the board, so people like Dan McCarney, Niang, etc.

From the barebones site it seems like this is more of a retention idea than it is an acquisition idea.

This seems weak is what seems like to me.
The cats out of the bag. Former Fiji at “The U” Fat Stacks McGee whose daddy left him the Cadillac dealerships is his own “Collective”. That is who is in control. This isn’t going to work.

We need to try to start some kind of working group with the remaining Big Schools in the Big 12. Create power in numbers to create results on the field against the Texas schools. Just gotta hope kids still want to win and will take a pay cut to win.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think when you are doing something for a charity in exchange for a cash payment, it isn't charity work.

I get the fact that we have to get on board or get left behind, but this whole NIL has that scam feeling to me. but just what i expected I guess.

I still think this is going to end up costing schools a lot of money.

if most of the people on this board donated to the "collective" my guess is their ISU donations would be less. So Jamie is going to be faced with less conference revenue moving forward due to OU/Tex leaving and half his fanbase is going to now have to fund this garbage just to keep up.

Haven't read many of the posts on here but I have read some..

NiL is reality now...yes it sucks.. If you cannot afford $10 a month or so as an ISU fan or student to help keep ISU sports relative then stop following ISU sports.
Don’t tell other people HOW to spend their hard earned money. Then to say just don’t follow Iowa state sports is just a ridiculous statement.
