“Starter” at the 3rd WR spot seems sort of irrelevant.

Hutchinson and Noel are going to see a boat load of snaps. The 3rd spot likely split up between guys like Shaw, Jackson, Stanley, or one of the younger guys.

Just my opinion.

Dekkers will be very good. Some people who saw Becht this spring think he might be even better. It’s no slight against Dekkers.

Who are “some people?” I was at multiple practices and while Becht looks good and could be really good in the future, Dekkers is head and shoulders better than him right now

We just assume that Shaw is just gonna keep his job.
I think he loses it to Dimitri Stanley in the fall.
Daniel Jackson and Greg Gaines will be pieces.
I have seen nothing from shaw or Darren Wilson to indicate they will make a major contribution.

I agree that we have not seen a lot from Shaw, Wilson. But I think it comes down to whether you think this is a 2 deep for the end of the season or a 2 deep for the beginning of the season.

We have seen it most years... guys with time in the program start over more talented guys that have less time with the team:

Lang/Nwangwu vs. Breece Hall
Sean Foster vs. anyone else at OT
Assalley/Dunn vs. Mevis

(Mevis took more and more of the kicking responsibilities - pretty clear he was the best option across the board last year, not sure why we waited so long... best kicker, punter on the team from day 1, and was an all conference kicker prior to coming to ISU, yet we keep using two guys that were inconsistent through most of their time at ISU)

Wow it’s pretty alarming how we are right now on kicker, punter, and safety. Seems we usually have problems in those positions anyway.

Just to be fair, as long as certain people are bagging on Sean Shaw, who has been hampered by injuries…so has Dmitri Stanley. Maybe not as much, but some of you folks shouldn’t be “disappointed” in his performance if he happens to get dinged up at some point this Fall.
Isn't the main issue with shaw that he can't catch? Or am i not remembering the right guy

At K/P, do we really ever know if they are good though? We didn’t know how Mevis would perform before he played.

I’d rather go with some new guys than what we’ve had at P the last couple years.

My mom died of cancer thirty years ago. You’re on a roll, aren’t you?
Hey @Halincandenza? You “dumbed” my post?

Not only did my mom die thirty years ago (next month), but yesterday was my sister’s birthday, and we’d just finished talking about her on the phone. So RustShack picked a really bad time to take a shot at anyone’s mom.

Matter of fact, I found out Mom had terminal cancer on my own birthday—when I got home after a night out with friends on Welch Avenue.

So I’m not sure what you found “dumb” about somebody’s mom dying of cancer, but frankly, you can go jump in a lake.

Lake LaVerne. The polluted version from the Eighties.

And yeah, that’s me putting it politely.

There's not a lot of competition. It's not a given but the raw talent is better than anyone we've had in my 3 decades.
I will wait and see. Nothing against the kid, but I have to see him lead the team for a few games before I am buying that he is the best QB in ISU history.
