One thing I hope the B12 office does is thoroughly scrutinize the Disney balance sheet. Given the fluidity of viewership and technology integration, the amounts being leveraged here are risky, IMO.

You think Disney's going to go bankrupt and not be able to see the deal through?

And of course they have to wait til the B1G tv deal is done. No one is going to pay big money to the PAC until they are sure that they aren't getting raided again.

Also, he is trying to buy as much time as possible; once an offer is on the table, then teams have to decide "go or stay". Until then, he can beg them to hang on and hope.

Not bankrupt, but stock sufferable; which in its own right is very bad. Will they be creating over 100 million per team in revenue to offset these contracts? If you break it out to games played, the CFP is the clear motivating factor in their gamble. Otherwise the numbers seem very precarious. If I were Apple, Amazon, or any other 'contributor', I'd wait to see how this risk starts to play out; unless they get a super deal ... which I don't think they will.

I would have said Anger.
When looking at the personal change model, It appears he's still in the denial, anger and shock phase. Disbelief and shock stage as he is trying to force facts, is looking for errors and cant focus on thoughts. He's attempting to persuade and encouraging unrealistic expectations, along with showing a lot of open rebellion. Anger because he is attacking, criticizing, and shifting blame. Showing some clear signs of denial as well as he's ignoring facts and telling people what to think.

Not exactly sure.
I wonder if the streamers will see how long these contracts are for. If they are in that five year area, I could see them taking a PAC level situation, only issue would be the timeslots, so the big 12 would be more attractive, but take a cheaper conference to get their feet wet and get the situation rolling.

The stock price frankly doesn't matter much. A contract is a contract. But that's ESPN's core business, I have to assume they think they'll earn back what they're offering.

As for Apple and Amazon, there were rumors that they wanted shorter contracts as they're new to this business, which makes sense.

Way up there
Maybe he was offered an executive job in the B1G if (when) the Pac 12 folds and that's why he refuses to mention them
Rose Bowl also expires in '26, if they were to survive, they NEED that contract renewed. With the hit they've taken, the PAC may not be the most desirable opponent for that game anymore. The b1g would be in the power position to more or less pick their opponent.

It would most likely be part of the playoff I would think.

Are you kidding about the stock price? If they can't meet the obligations of a contract, they're in a whole lot of trouble. It was no coincidence Disney was considering ESPN separation not too long ago. Interestingly, all these contracts are still hyperbole as none have really been settled and all this movement has been based, more or less, on vapor discussions. But, if the rumors are true ESPN is diving deeper into debt. Let's just put it this way, I in no way would invest in Disney now. I'll humbly eat crow if in 10 years ESPN is making the cash to pay these separation contracts.

Rather embarrassing performance.

Nothing says strength like melting down at media days, antagonizing the B12 while the BIG took two schools and toys with 2-4 more.

Big 10, USC, UCLA off the hook, they are smiling today, they did all the damage and B12 gets blamed for trying to help save some of these programs by giving them a lifeline from the Midwest where people still like football. This is what we get for trying to be helpful.
