The current I-State logo is by far the best logo we’ve had and it’s not close.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think it has served its purpose in establishing a long-term identity. Fans outside the state recognize the logo. Helps to win a few games. But it could use some updating. I like it on a white background during broadcasts. Other times it looks like a cheap sticker.

Looks cheap because there are four different colors within the official logo. The two-tone and stencil versions of the current logo are so much more aesthetically pleasing.

I could be convinced that the "I-State" logo is the best ISU has had, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it is head-and-shoulders above all of the others that have been used since becoming Iowa State University in 1959. "I-State" has the benefit of being the longest used (15 years) and seen the most success.

But it is still a flawed logo, mainly due to being fairly generic, and being somewhat hard to read from a distance. The bevels and 4 colors make it more messy than it should be, and making the full switch to the 2-color and stencil versions would go a long way to making it more easily recognizable.

Now see, I go back and forth on this one. I mainly don’t like it a ton because of the blue in it. Other than that it actually is a pretty cool logo. Tons better than the boring as block I with the state in it. I can’t find the picture but I know I saw Breece wearing a black hoodie with this outline a few years ago and thought holy hell that would be badass to wear!
This was ok, I dont mind that logo and its alternates, I just think they need to get rid of the Blue, and color correct it a bit. The colors were a little strange during those years.

Replacing the blue with black, and correcting the color to either the classic 80s colors, or current colors would look better.

The outlines for a lot of the logos, I think look better than the originals, Sometimes I think Iowa State tries to overdue their logos, with too much detail. They end up being too busy, not classic looking. It seems the simple classic logos are the ones that last. Think of the most recognizable and longest lasting logos, most are pretty simple.

I’m part of the age group that tends to love the bird in a blender logo and I don’t get it. That logo sucks. Meanwhile, the I-State logo (while simple) is effective and recognizable. Everyone knows what school it is right away. Only change I wouldn’t mind if ISU made was to get rid of the bevel

Bird-blender as a logo is unique and incorporates the dual-identity in a clever way, but it has to be standalone without the lame typeface ... and it doesn't work well on a helmet, too much detail (It might work on a white helmet OK).

If a mark has to be manipulated or only works with a certain color background, it‘s an automatic fail. A logo should be simple and clean with no more than two colors, so it will pop on a uniform, shirt, hat or background. This is why the stencil and two color I-State logos look so much better than the 4 color multi shade looks. I still don’t understand why ISU doesn’t use the stencil gold logo on their cardinal helmet or two color logo on the white helmet.
