You are probably right. All three would be upgrades over UCLA imo.I think Stanford and UW are way ahead of UO in B1G pecking order. The difference in TV markets and academics trump the difference in football prowess.

'non-profits', these will not be.Non-profits pay their employees.
They already are making up the shortfalls. As soon as UCLA ask The regents and governor to make up the shortfall for not moving the politicians will cut and run
Imagine the workman comp claims…….Once the Big 10 starts paying their players, the players become university employees which opens up a massive can of worms that forever changes the face of collegiate athletics.
Why? Student employment is a pretty normal thing.Once the Big 10 starts paying their players, the players become university employees which opens up a massive can of worms that forever changes the face of collegiate athletics.
Imagine Northwestern and the Chicago unions. "It's not my job to cross that goal line... No. I don't know who's job it is. Ask Local 542."And the unions....![]()
I think USC and had a +1 on their Big 10 invite and took UCLA. Now the CA BoR is trying to get a +1 for UCLA.I still think this is just a political move with no substance. But let's say UCLA gets block. The Big 10 says then okay, we'll invite Cal (and Stanford) too. Would the state of California block that too? That would work out the best for the Big 12 as Cal and Stanford wouldn't be in play for us. Oregon, Washington, and 4 corners likely would come to the Big 12.
I really don't get why the Big 10 wouldn't invite Cal or Stanford anyways to give UCLA and USC travel partners and to get more games on the Pac time zone for tv. Sure, the payout per team would be less but come on, how much money do they need?
not going to go read that #*@$, but how can they want something that is ultimately bad for the state. I assume it is lost on them that realignment may eventually reach them, as well? The fact that they are already in is providing them protection, for now.Meanwhile over on Hok Report, the children are giddy over the impending collapse of the Iowa State athletic programs. Led by their favorite poster, “Paednoch23”, the nut job who wanted to sue Twins last year. https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/thre...unced-80-100m-per-school.397229/post-10356815
CAL can’t block UCLA.
And put a nail in both of their coffins. No, but the regents could. Cal and UCLA are governed by the same regents. It'd be a big power play by the regents, but they could tell the UCLA administration to pull from the Big 10 unless Cal were invited too.
I think Fox gets the #1 pick for the season each of the 7 years, which means they'll likely take tOSU v. Michigan each year. Beyond that, the picks rotate, so there's still going to be tOSU v. PSU, Michigan v. USC, Michigan v. PSU, USC v. PSU, etc. as far as the bluebloods, along with a lot of other second tier matchups like Wisco v. Iowa, Michigan v. MSU, Wisco v. tOSU, etc. You're also likely going to see more frequent ND v. Michigan games between 2023 and 2030.What’s going to be fun is when ESPN decides to outbid NBC for the Notre Dame home games that are up soon. Throws a bit of a wrench in NBC’s Big Ten idea to push things toward those Notre Dame home games.
The other part of this is Big Ten deal is this draft for the games by Fox, CBS and NBC. If Fox indeed always gets the top game at noon not sure how the order goes for CBS and NBC or if they just rotate every other during this draft. Regardless look at a lot of those weeks in the Big Ten, that third best game, which NBC or CBS would get is a lot of Minnesota v. Michigan State, Iowa v. Purdue, etc. I just went through the weeks, so yes to keep media partners happy (consideration going how much they are paying) they are going to need to schedule smart and find more big games.
Also Ohio State is going to be seeing a lot of noon ET kicks, so hope the Buckeye fans like that. Unless they are going to be able to flex games like NBC Sunday Night Football has. Will be interesting.
Either way the Big 12 needs to have a couple of teams replace OU as the consistent CFP threat to build up the brands of those schools and create bigger games. Will take awhile but view it kind of like Gonzaga bball. They are one of the elite college hoops brands after two decades of winning like they have. We need a couple of schools like that for football moving forward to build to that. Unfortunately Baylor could be one of them barf.

That's like telling your son who has a date to the prom with the hottest girl in school they can't go because their dumbass brother doesn't have a date. It's absolutely stupid.
The simple fact is both of these programs are hemmoraging cash. They'll never block it because the alternative is that the taxpayers pay off facility upgrades for UCLA.
I think it was already mentioned but short of trying to block the move, I could see the regents try getting UCLA to kick back some of its B1G cash to Cal.That's like telling your son who has a date to the prom with the hottest girl in school they can't go because their dumbass brother doesn't have a date. It's absolutely stupid.
