Benjamin’s. That’s the one big thing the new tv deal will accomplish. Every coach in the Big 10 is going to be on another level of pay. Coaches will be making more there than the NFL by quite a margin.
Not saying it can’t change but Matt hasn’t showed at all that money matters to him like that. Now for his assistants and staff, he appreciates getting them more, so that could be a thing down the road.

If Illinois has a decent year, I wonder if the Huskers might go after Bielema. He’s won in the Big Ten at Wisconsin. If he shows he can have some moderate success at Illinois too in year two, why wouldn’t they go after a guy who’s been successful at two Big Ten programs?

Would he do any better at Nebraska than Illinois?

I suppose a winning season is good for Nebraska now

I think the ceiling is higher at Nebraska than at Illinois. Better fan support too.

I thought he did a pretty nice job at Illinois last year in year one and they already have a dominant win this year. If he pulls off 7-5 this year after where the program was when he took over, why shouldn’t Nebraska be interested?

Nebraska is one of the toughest jobs in the P2

As others have mentioned, this is a quick fix fanbase who others love to pile on because they are so fickle.

It's particularly funny the BigSky twitter account is trolling them. Aside from big 10 money and an increasingly irrelevant past, in terms of population/location/logistics, there really isn't much difference in moving your family/recruiting kids to Nebraska vs. say Montana, the Dakotas, or Idaho in terms of the states themselves, respectively.

It's not apples to apples obviously, but people ignore it completely like the job is USC or something. Lincoln is not only Siberia, it's a 5 hours outside of Siberia!

Isn't Bobby Petrino an obvious hire? He's made massive turnarounds everywhere he's been and it's not like Nebraska is going to bat an eye if he chooses to bang his secretary again if he's winS

Are they fans of using motorcycle accidents for cover story's?!

They should honestly go after Mark Farley if they fire Frost. It would be worth the gamble.

I wouldn’t be nervous by the Nebraska job opening, but national media will jump on it.
Per the national media, Campbell was good as gone to go to the likes of a Pittsburgh after 2017. Our boy Kirk Herby said something like “I don’t make the rules, Campbell is gone”…didn’t happen.

Since then Campbell was “all but done” to leave for Tennessee, Florida State, Tennessee again, then USC yet here we are entering his 7th season, 2nd most tenured Big 12 coach. The national media can spew all they want, I think Cyclone fans have learned to just ignore it.

I’m not saying he will never leave but he has the leverage (and every right) to wait for the prefect situation. Me personally, I was sweating bullets when the Notre Dame job opened up, fortunately they hired internal. IMHO, if he was offered the ND job, he would have been gone. Ohio State is also on that list.

Yeah, the big 10 and sec will have the money to outbid for coaches if they want. Coaches are just like any other employee, they will consider the pay along with other elements of the job to determine if the move makes sense. Most people will move for the money. I don’t think coaches are any different.

I think you’ll see more Big12/ACC/PAC coaches leave for either the Big10 or SEC in the future. Those conferences are playing at the same level, but with less pay, it’ll be a great on the job training for the Big10 and sec.

Campbell has proven the prestige and history of the program doesn't matter. If anything it would hurt the chance of him going there. He seems to care much more about realistic expectations, freedom, and teaching young men than money, notoriety, or football history. That being said I was also very nervous when Urban Meyer was let go at Ohio State but they moved on to Ryan Day pretty quick.

I've heard Chris Petersen potentially being a name that Nebraska would be interested in.

If they could pull that off it would be huge for Trev and Nebraska! However if he views the job as 5 quick years and back to retirement then he might not have the ability to bring in the same type of coaches he has hired in the past to install and run his program.
