I think all the DBs who transferred from Iowa State are starting for their new teams except for one and he's the backup. Starters include Kym'mani King at Florida A&M, Virdel Edwards at Hawaii, Isheem Young at Ole Miss and Jordyn Morgan at UNLV. The only nonstarter is Craig McDonald at Auburn, who is second string, according to a just-released depth chart. That's a lot of DBs to lose for one team, but it doesn't even seem to be even a minor hiccup for us.

That is some good info. Hard to believe it will not be more than a hiccup. Hard to believe there is not an unstated issue here.

Isheem was a stud. That one still stings a bit
I've said it before. I think there's more to this story from a concussion protocol stand point. On at least two plays last year, I saw him get up noticeably wavering and was ordered off the field. These days, it's prudent to be cautious and that may have upset Isheem.

Isheem was obviously a stud. I thought McDonald had the makings of a really good player. Those two hurt, a lot. I don't know if there is an issue, though, in today's world of transfers, its a lot of players but not entirely crazy. Close to it.

For some it was probably as simple as seeing the writing on the wall as the younger players continued to play more and more. For others... who knows.

This will happen every year now or at best every other year.
Eh, I doubt we lose 5 guys from the 2 deeps between 1-2 positions in the same position group very often, if ever again. That was a bit of a mass Exodus, and wasn't all because of NIL.

McDonald probably would have started here, hope he’s happy riding the pine at Auburn all year.

As I understand it, Young played the same position as Freyler. Freyler was just plain better by the end of the year. McDonald had a good chance to start though, so that was unfortunate.

McDonald was the big hit. Teams had figured out Isheem mostly. He liked the big hit so you either play actioned and he bit or pump fake and he bit, they were torching him over the top a lot of the season.

Still like Verdon and a couple of the freshman coming in though. Would’ve liked having him, but we do seem to have good options.

Personally I was looking forward to McDonald, Freyler and Johnson - the size there I think was something rarely seen at least here
