Jimmy G passed his physical weeks ago. It's telling they haven't been able to trade him yet. Their decision is to cut or keep. No one is going to trade anything for a guy that is potentially on the open market in four days. So it boils down to what SF really thinks about Trey Lance. They can't bluff their way into a trade this late in camp.

The most sensible landing spot for Jimmy G is Seattle, but I doubt SF wants to give a division rival a reasonable deal. And at this point it's easier for SEA to wait for Jimmy to get cut and sign him.

It's also worth noting that SEA plays in SF in week 2, so the 49ers want to wait as long as possible to let Jimmy G join up with the Seahawks in hopes that he doesn't integrate into the offense before then.

According to this website Nate Sudfeld has been waived by the 49er's, which would elevate Brock to #2 QB
I saw this earlier in the afternoon, then it disappeared.

Interesting...I don't think they will keep Jimmy G due to his large salary but maybe after watching Lance this preseason they have changed their mind on that.

He hasn’t even been a part of the organization during the off season and pre season. I’d be absolutely shocked if they kept him on the team past the cut date. No one is just going to trade for him when they can pick him up for less money and no trade compensation a week later.

Usually I think John Lynch has been phenomenal, but he’s really bungled this whole situation badly.

FWIW, analyst stated that this makes JG’s contract more marketable & that he will be traded in October. I’m not up to speed on NFL trade deadlines in season but it does appear that it is a 49er contractural restructuring that would reduce their risk. Outside of remaining on the roster, he has not had any training camp participation so I doubt that they have him in their plans.

Probably not great news for Brock.

Most likely the 49ers waive Brock and hope he makes it through waivers so they can stash him on the practice squad. That does leave open the chance that he gets picked up by another team, but we will see.

• Practice squad candidate: Purdy, Harvey*, Jacobson, Akers, Soehner (PUP), Leo** (International Exemption), Rose, Schweiger
• Current Free Agents: Klein, Perry, Mevis, Wirtel

*Teams are allowed to carry 10 players with less than two seasons accrued, and an additional 6 with unlimited seasons accrued. Willie Harvey is in his 3rd season so would count against the 6.
**Matt Leo's International Exemption means that he does not count against his teams 16 practice squad slots.

I feel like Kene was one of those rare players that cared about being at the actual school just as much as the football team. There were articles around last years draft about him taking part in the ISU Rally Car team.

I am pretty sure he graduated with like a 3.95 or 4.0 GPA. I know he has a Mechanical Engineering degree. He is smart
