You haven't met our coach. Sat a Heisman runner-up in favor of Kyle McCann. Sat Stanzi in favor of Christensen. Sat Beathard in favor of Rudock. Not saying Padilla is lights out or even all that much better, but KF has frequently whiffed badly on assessing the talent in our QB room.
With all due respect, Padilla is not a complete unknown. Ferentz started him four games last year versus Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, and Nebraska. Iowa won each game, but not because of Padilla. In fact, Ferentz replaced him in the middle of his fourth start versus Nebraska because he was so terrible. Padilla has played enough to know he is not some undiscovered gem. Like I said previously, Padilla would be playing if he was better than Petras. Defense and special teams are going to have to carry Iowa again this year.

What's wrong with watching a game on the BTN? Much better than having to pay extra for it on ESPN + or something. I've never had any complaints with the BTN coverage. It is on par with the rest of the networks.
I mean if you don't mind color w/ big ten shills/former big ten players struggling to eloquently articulate themselves, limited camera angles with poorly timed replay cut-ins and cut-outs, an ugly studio with more big ten shills who are former big ten players/coaches, being reminded about the big Nebraska Rutgers volleyball matchup 15 times, negligible exposure outside the big ten footprint while competing with another BTN game at your time slot which is also blacking out your game in part of said big ten footprint, etc.

Other than that, I agree, having ISU play on big ten network is fine.

Not exactly sure.
Yeah but I was saying more like what's the point of 3:00 to be on the lowest possible network tier. I understand its "Iowa only", but I'd rather have a crap kick time on a better network than let everyone drink all day and have time to get in our own heads for a BTN kick.

Can we really not outduel a duke northwestern at noon or an espn 2 look at 11:00?
Iowa fans say they are a big draw, so why can’t they pull a better channel?

I never said he was a complete unknown. My point is that we haven't seen what he can do when he's the one getting the 1st team reps and allowed to start building chemistry with the starters during practices. And again, he may not be much better if any better, we just don't know. And no, just because he proved himself to be better than Petras doesn't mean he'd be playing. At any other program, sure. At Iowa, no, which is why I listed the other situations where KF kept the better QB on the bench.

This is an item of high interest to me. Dekkers has some size, and can run. Will CMC break out some LanRam type QB runs? Will that kind of wrinkle make a difference?

He didn't run at all against SEMO, and Purdy was coached against running so he wouldn't get hurt. So IDK what to think. Stay tuned I suppose.
Doubt he runs much. Our backup is Rocco, a true freshman (not sure if he enrolled early or not) and probably want to get a couple weeks under his belt at least.

I believe his other best offer was Colorado State or a directional school. Once again, Iowa recruited against themselves because he's a good kid. Padilla is not a complete Statue, that's about it. Which I will admit is valuable in of itself given Iowa's situation. But he's not going to beat you with his feet. He's similar to a Sam Richardson type. He doesn't have a P5 body or skill set, but he's a good kid and I remember hearing he's a very good student. We don't need to be scared Alex Padilla, but he's probably a better option than Petras at this point against the style of defense we play, and I hope he stays on the bench.

Iowa’s offense isn’t designed for mobile QBs so it’s moot.

Never heard anyone complain with the BTN’s coverage of a football or bball game. It is on par with everyone else’s productions for the most part.

Georgia came in late with an offer.

It’s not that solid. If you are big ten, it seems fine because that is your wheelhouse. When you listen to other lower levels, you realize that not all announcers are fully one sided when teams are playing. The camera work is poorer, either bad directors or what appears old camera operators as they are behind plays (like having the running back run off the screen or having a basketball passes off screen and you see what is happening behind them.

Well now you have, and I'm not alone. I'd take ESPNU any day of the week over BTN, and they tried to kill our conference. Now ESPN+ is another story, which I do agree with you on that point.

You only hate it because it has the Big ten name on it. Got it.

UGA did with the guy Kirk ran out of town as well, I believe. FWIW.
They did, but Deuce had better offers altogether than Padilla. Pretty sure both cases were Georgia needing a fall back QB recruit late after missing on higher targets. I fully expect Deuce to light the world on fire at UK next year.

No I don’t. I admit I don’t watch it much at all, but that is the experiences I’ve seen with it. I would place it similar to ESPN+, and no where near any of the FS stations or ESPNU or higher. Can’t speak for Peacock because I don’t think I’ve watched a game there. I would also put it on par with LHN.
