I'm fine with picking up the Hutchinson flag, was probably the right call. Didn't really see a good view of the offside. But they gotta hold back on the flag for the team on the field or issue a warning, they all thought they just won the game. Have some understanding there.

If he makes any effort at the ball I’d agree but he didn’t so I think it was clear PI.

Totally agree, but CMC will look at it as a teaching opportunity, I bet

I'm in the camp of the team needing to just make sure they stay on the sideline no matter what they do but is a warning required before actually pulling the flag?

Also on the defensive offsides, there was also holding on Iowa there which I think can still count post snap, and should have offset somewhere in there.

I don't like the unsportsmanlike penalty on that sideline. Practically put Iowa into FG range with the offsides.
My guess is that the official who threw that flag thought ISU had just won the game too and thought it’d be a meaningless penalty. Probably wouldn’t have thrown it if he knew there was a drive extending flag already thrown. But once the laundry is on the field, you can’t just pick it back up.

They literally picked up a flag a few plays earlier that would have ended the game. The officials were discussing the flags and they should have picked up the unsportsmanlike flag.

Picking up the X flag, and the gifting Iowa 20 yards were not the calls Capt Kirk wanted to talk about in his post game presser.
He whined about the fumble at the goal line because his coaches upstairs said the ball broke the plane. So in Kirk''s mind, damn the review, his coaches said it was a TD.

PI vs no-PI is a lot different than unsportsmanlike for rushing the field. In the first, they discussed and said no penalty actually occurred. What you are asking is for them to say, “technically a penalty occurred, but the official only called it because he thought it was meaningless so we’re going to pick it up.” Big, big difference. Those unsportsmanlike penalties get called all of the time in situations like that at the end of a game. This is the first time I’ve ever seen one almost impact the game. But officials call it all of the time. And they can’t just pick a flag like that up.

They also usually give a warning prior. Where was that, o arrogant God of officiating?
