But once the laundry is on the field, you can’t just pick it back up.
Exception: See Iowa State vs. Kansas State, 2017
But once the laundry is on the field, you can’t just pick it back up.
PI vs no-PI is a lot different than unsportsmanlike for rushing the field. In the first, they discussed and said no penalty actually occurred. What you are asking is for them to say, “technically a penalty occurred, but the official only called it because he thought it was meaningless so we’re going to pick it up.” Big, big difference. Those unsportsmanlike penalties get called all of the time i situations like that at the end of a game. This is the first time I’ve ever seen one almost impact the game. But officials call it all of the time. And they can’t just pick a flag like that up.
Picking up the X flag, and the gifting Iowa 20 yards were not the calls Capt Kirk wanted to talk about in his post game presser.
He whined about the fumble at the goal line because his coaches upstairs said the ball broke the plane. So in Kirk''s mind, damn the review, his coaches said it was a TD.
Iowa’s Oline is not good. They were holding on nearly every okay and they still couldn’t block us.
Entire left side of the line starts early, but together. Obscures the snap.Apparently I don't know what a false start is, because it looked like a LOT of Iowa linemen got early jumps (like maybe 6-8 times throughout the game)?
That's lame. Flags get picked up without penalty when justified. Here, it would hav
Good question. I’m not agreeing with the call here guys. I’m just giving my guess as to why it was made. I don’t think the flag should’ve been thrown. But I’m just saying that I suspect the official thought it wouldn’t matter and once it was thrown, the officials were stuck in a bad situation. They also usually give a warning prior. Where was that, o arrogant God of officiating?
You quite literally can, look at ISU's possession prior. IDC if the rules say otherwise, if you can pick up one flag, you should be able to pick up any other. My guess is that the official who threw that flag thought ISU had just won the game too and thought it’d be a meaningless penalty. Probably wouldn’t have thrown it if he knew there was a drive extending flag already thrown. But once the laundry is on the field, you can’t just pick it back up.
I'm sure I'm far from the only person to hear "B12 crew" and immediately react in horror. That's historically a very bad thing for ISU.It was a big 12 crew so Iowa has all the excuses now I’m sure!!!
I thought they got the first two right - I thought MJ was off-sides as the ball was snapped. As soon as I saw the flag I knew the call...I'm fine with picking up the Hutchinson flag, was probably the right call. Didn't really see a good view of the offside. But they gotta hold back on the flag for the team on the field or issue a warning, they all thought they just won the game. Have some understanding there.

Seemed pretty bad.
Don't really understand picking up the PI flag vs. Hutchinson? Didn't look like we were offsides? Iowa OL holding?
Luckily we won the game anyway, but not sure what was going on there at the end.
I saw the replay and the side judge threw the flag right after the snap.Another thought: When was the offside flag thrown I didn’t see it until after the play. If it was thrown at the snap I doubt our sideline celebrates early.
My guess is that the official who threw that flag thought ISU had just won the game too and thought it’d be a meaningless penalty. Probably wouldn’t have thrown it if he knew there was a drive extending flag already thrown. But once the laundry is on the field, you can’t just pick it back up.
