Another comment on this. It's not just the spread, but Campbell has been atrocious in close games. Going back through 2017 Iowa state is 3-9 (apologies if I'm one off as I tabulated quickly) and games decided by 3 or less and 9-16 in games decided by 7 or less. When you look at those losses, many were aided by horrendous special teams play.

So glad we have individual S and CBs coaches, as well as TEs coaches, rather than using that slot on an Sts coordinator. Nothing to see here.

I haven’t heard any of the coaches mention Quaron off the cuff so far, nor have I heard anyone ask about him on any of the interviews—though I still have to catch up on the radio coaches shows.

There may be something going on with him health wise. Looking at his HS track events, he missed about half the season this last spring. Which seems unusual for an elite sprinter to me.

Quaron was in street clothes on the sideline last week.

General alcohol sales might help with casual fans. It's only a matter of time, but I wish it'd be sooner rather than later.

(Might get flamed here.)

Anecdotally, I've heard opposing fans surprised and disappointed you can't grab a beer inside JTS on plenty of occasions. My family from Minnesota, for example, can't wrap their heads around not being allowed to grab a beer at the game. If you've ever been to a Vikings or Gophers game, i can see why you would think it's just silly to even debate it, and I think it makes us look idk small time or maybe prudish, Idk.

Those are probably bad ways to describe it, but I think it's just an unnecessary impedment to many who arent die hards like us. I just think we're past that purity argument in 2022 with NIL, legalized sports betting, beefed up tailgating etc. We've all heard the whole family atmosphere argument, but I really don't think that holds water when you can openly carry beers everywhere outside and even drink up to the gate.

By no means do I mean to imply it's a hill to die on, but I think a tipping point was reached at some point recently where it's more trouble than its worth to hold off general sales, rather than the other way around which I can see why it may have been in the past.
Listening to JP on KXNO after the Iowa game I can all but guarantee that Iowa State won't have stadium wide beer sold anytime soon.

While I too would like general sales of alcohol to be a thing, who's paying for SEZ seats if that happens. The only advantage at that point is having a place to stay warm during the cold games.

No. Not an analyst, a position limited with funds and availability, but a coordinator. There's a reason why there aren't "defensive analysts" that handle coordinator duties. It's a bandaid for a gaping wound.
I am hoping to see some improvement simply because a lot of the issues on punting seem to be schematic in nature. That being said, I have never liked that we have a DB and Safety coach and a TE coach. One of those could go in exchange for a ST coach to work directly with the players. The hire has not been there very long, but the early results are not impressive to this point.

I'm not going to try to count them all, but it looks like ~1,500. So probably 60,000 in attendance, which would be a sell out in half the Big 12 and roughly 10 years ago the largest home crowd in ISU history. Probably not something that we need to worry about too much.
97.6% of capacity is great!! Still would be great to see a sell out though.

On the flip side of the equation, I think that the results show that having a TE and a CB and S coaches are pretty impressive.

And I gather that Broomfield spends a lot of his time recruiting.

Right? It's ridiculous.

I wouldn't care if the units were consistently competent and not costing us games. But they are and it's obvious Campbell doesn't have the answers to these problem. There is a reason there are coordinators and on the field coaches versus "analysts". This problem has, is, and will continue to be well beyond the scope of an analyst to fix. Jettison one of those "excess" coaches (or move them to an analyst role) to make it work.

Safeties are important. Tight ends are important. But I don't think either position is more important as special teams (as a collective) at the college level. I also think those duties are easily absorbable by other position coaches. This isn't differential equations here, it's rudimentary math, yet Campbell keeps coming up with the wrong 'answers'. Maddening.

I tend to agree. A special teams coach would deal with kickoffs, kick coverage, field goals, extra points, punts and punt coverage. That is a lot of units to be coached by random coaches that have other duties.

Let's blast this mold!!!

If not already motivated enough, this (last year, them taking the tents away, coolers probably too, who knows) should very much do it!!!

Not too much, if any, respect for the Bears...NONE after this stunt last year.
In retrospect they should have left the tents up and took a fine from the league.

Act now, ask for forgiveness later.

I very seldom buy food in the stadium by the time you tailgate, just go to the game watch and head home. I mean even as long as the Ohio game was I still didn't starve. Granted it's a different situation if you bring kids.
Haha! Are you saying that kids always want the snocones, chips and cheese, hot dogs, soda, etc.?

Where do you live???

My kids were much more frugal! Cough, hic-up! :)

I like that guy. Seems like a good dude.

I finally got around to watching this. Holy s**t! I've never heard Aranda speak before. Talk about mellow and philosophical and zen like..... wow! I had to look at his background, and of course he has a bachelors degree in philosophy. The guy is talking about the ego, the Matrix (the movie), and all kinds of philosophical stuff. So impressed by him.

Can't ever even imagine him getting all pumped up and excited.

The tent controversy was 3 years ago, not last year.

4 years ago they started fights and got Montgomery kicked out.

Last couple years was chippy, if I remember, but no serious controversy that I remember. Maybe someone can enlighten me, if there was.

Think a lot of the BS has been better under Aranda, Rhule was a Dbag.
