This tells me they may not have full trust in Dekkers by running this so many times.
I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s a combination of a lack of creativity by the play caller, a lack of confidence that the line can block long enough to let bigger plays develop, and a lack of a running game that has to be respected. I would say we also may have an issue with our tight ends not being good blockers…

Stop overthinking this one. As soon as you get to 4th down, you kick the FG.

I do think we should have been playing to win, but it’s not like it was 4th and inches from the goal line. You still have 25+ yards to go in less than a minute to win if you convert the 4th down.

The travesty was that we couldn’t punch it in.

That was a horrendous call. There was no way he was making that kick. We needed a half yard. That was some pathetic “I have no faith whatsoever in my team gaining a half yard” BS I’ve ever seen.

We deserved to lose that game big time. One team wanted it, and one team’s offense and ST’s weren’t even interested in being on the field.

I was screaming go for it. Made no sense. Really disappointed in that call
Absolutely atrocious game management by CMC. How is it literally every person at the bar is screaming go for it while our multi-million dollar coach thinks its a good idea to send out our (1-3) freshman kicker out there. I LOVE Campbell but one could argue every loss we've taken in the last 2 seasons could be attributed to poor clock/game management. We addressed the Special Teams coordinator position in the offseason and now its time to address the game management. Any person who has played Madden or NCAA Football (LFG NCAA Football 23) can attest to the most simple mistakes Cambell has made in clock/game management. I'll throw my hat in the ring... multiple championships with ISU, turned Arkansas State into a national powerhouse, back to back Superbowl championships with Jets in Zach Wilson era. I'll do this sh*t for free, put me in the booth with a headset and I will advise CMC when to take timeouts and whether to kick field goals/go for it, etc.

Agree. Totally for the sake of argument, let’s say he somehow, someway miraculously makes that kick there for the tie. How many of you honestly (and I mean honestly) think we win that game in overtime? Ya, me neither. Go for the **** win there

Kinda related.....but a play that I wish would have went different was the second "targeting" call in the Alamo Bowl. I wish CMC would have sent a statement to that refereeing crew and taken a just war ejection to fight back.

Passivity is infectious

losing Brock pretty much wrecked Manning's game plan. The other guys did okay, but Brock was really make a lot out of nothing at the beginning of the game. A decent running game would have taken a lot of the pressure off of Dekkers.

The play of the OL today was embarrassing. Not sure what else to say about it.
The o line getting blown up and almost allowing a safety early in the 2nd quarter ruined the game plan I think. He abandoned the run after that. And probably rightly so.

ISU had 4th and 1 foot from their 19 yard line with 60 seconds left when they lined up. How many times do you see teams go the entire field in a minute? It happens quite often.

As I said in another thread, Campbell chose to go with a 50% chance at best to make the FG to go into OT on the road. Even if Gilbert had made the FG, I bet ESPN gametracker would have given us no better than a 45% chance of winning the game in OT. I would guess our odds of winning when we faced a 4th and a foot with 60 seconds left were around 60%!!! Campbell effectively cut our odds in half by opting for the FG try!

It's not like we have a reliable veteran kicker. I can't understand what he possibly could have been thinking when he made thar decision.

Remember all the times as a fan you are happy when the other team decides to punt the ball instead of going for a 4th and 3 at our 42 yard line. Even better is the feeling after their punter boots it in the end zone and we get the ball back at the 25.

Now imagine you are a KU fan. How relieved must every single KU fan watching our game have been when Campbell decided to kick a FG from KU's 19 yard line with 4th and a foot to go. This after our freshman kicker just hit the goal post twice on similar kicks. That tells me all I need to know.

Biggest mistake of Campbell's young career. He needs to be way more aggressive. He shouldn't play for OT even if it was 4th and a foot from the 5 yard line. You go for the win. You only have 7 or 8 possessions in regulation due to your style of play. You need to make the last one count.

We need the Matt Cambpell going for two in Norman in 2019, not the scared conservative version.

Yes! Is there anyone who didn’t like that call? I hate the loser “play not to lose” mentality that plagued ISU for decades. You will never get to the next level thinking like that.

I disagree, you have to believe your FG kicker can make a 36 yarder, especially when his two misses were razor thin. I actually think ISU would have won in OT, kansas could do nothing in the 2nd half.

Has anyone in the media directly asked Campbell why he refuses to QB sneak unless we’re on our own goal line?
