I believe it was in the Clemson game that the announcers said Purdy had never thrown an interception when ISU was in the red zone. That was a remarkable stat. But I think it also showed that we don't throw the ball enough when we get in the red zone. We are too predictable. Lots of runs but not enough misdirection.
I've watched Baylor and KU fake out Colby Reeder 3 or 4 times with play action or misdirection inside the red zone. There's a good chance if ISU was better in the red zone we would have won 9 or 10 games in each of the last 6 seasons. Better ST would have sealed it!
Wasn't Baylor last year a red zone int?
Or maybe he was just outside of it when he threw it.
Either way, ISU doesn't just want to put the hammer down when it gets down there.
