I don't think Dekkers got sacked 5 times waiting to throw the crossing route.

Its not Dekkers. If your o line cant give the quarterback time to throw the deep ball all you can do is throw the quick route. ISU needs a new o line coach.
Dekkers wasnt even trying to get out of the pocket on a few of those. I think it was the 2nd sack he broke a tackle and just stood there scanning the field before getting actually sacked a few seconds later

Then JP and Wendy need to step in.
Sydney?

Serious.
Absolutely atrocious game management by CMC. How is it literally every person at the bar is screaming go for it while our multi-million dollar coach thinks its a good idea to send out our (1-3) freshman kicker out there. I LOVE Campbell but one could argue every loss we've taken in the last 2 seasons could be attributed to poor clock/game management. We addressed the Special Teams coordinator position in the offseason
We did?
Has anyone in the media directly asked Campbell why he refuses to QB sneak unless we’re on our own goal line?
Some of us about had heart attacks today when Dekkers did sneak one, from under center (and made the 1st down). Don't remember for sure but I think it was in the first half?

I'm kind of curious about the 'did not travel with the team' part of Norton's deal today.

Is the 'team-led' thing not going well this year?
Possibly wasn't going to play so they didn't want to waste a spot for him. Whether that's injury or team rules related who knows?

Let’s say we go for it and run a moronic play from the shotgun and don’t get it, is everyone crapping on Campbell for not kicking it? I feel like yes

Nah, not after missing 2 FGs earlier. People would generally respect playing to win the game.

Now, if you wanted to crap on them for not having their **** together to the point we needed to go for it there, then by all means.

The problem was not being good enough to get a first down in the first 3 downs against a not very good KU defense.

You think Tom manning was going to crossing route his way to the end zone in 36 seconds?
They did sit around and think about it while an additional 25 seconds or so ticked away. Even then the potential fg could have been much closer

Yes. It was in the first half. Dekkers picked up 2 yards when we only needed 1. And KU was offsides so the play didn't even count.

The KU game reminded me a lot of the Texas game in 2019. ISU trailed that one 21-20 late in the 4th quarter. We went on a great drive in the 4th quarter. We got to the Texas 20 yard line with 2:16 remaining. Texas was out of timeouts. We ran Breece up the middle twice for 1 or 2 yards. Then Purdy kneeled in the middle of the hashmarks at the 18 yard line. Assailey nailed a 35-yarder right down the middle to win the game 23-21.

I was so frustrated that we quit trying to move the football when we got to the Texas 20. I couldn't believe Campbell had so much faith in Assailey. Fortunately Assailey cane through and gave us a big win over Texas. Someone needs to tell Campbell that a 35 yarder is not a chip shot... especially when your kicker is a freshman.

Given how our kicking game had gone earlier in the day, I would have preferred to have gone for it.

However, it would have been tough if we did not convert and people would have been disappointed that we didn't go for the "chip shot." KU scored zero points in the second half, so I think that would give you some confidence in winning the game in OT.

It's pretty sad we were even in that position though. The offense should have just been able to put it into the end zone more than once that game.

I believe it was in the Clemson game that the announcers said Purdy had never thrown an interception when ISU was in the red zone. That was a remarkable stat. But I think it also showed that we don't throw the ball enough when we get in the red zone. We are too predictable. Lots of runs but not enough misdirection.

I've watched Baylor and KU fake out Colby Reeder 3 or 4 times with play action or misdirection inside the red zone. There's a good chance if ISU was better in the red zone we would have won 9 or 10 games in each of the last 6 seasons. Better ST would have sealed it!

I thought we signed the top kicker in the nation. Or is that next year's class? You'd think with one of the top kicking gurus in the sport in our backyard we could get this thing figured out.

Probably. Wouldnt change the main problem, which was that we managed 11 points agains a bad defense and the offensive execution was as awful as it has been from a unit that often times doesn't execute
