Well, a couple things:
1. We made so many crucial mistakes that the refs failure at the end shouldn't have mattered.
2. After a while, you are what your record says you are.
The football Gods are punishing us for our 2020 season. Hopefully next year we get the bounces we're not getting this year.

Its weird. This feels like a new thing for him- I don’t remember him dropping so many big catches ever before. I wonder if it’s just a mental thing?

Too much pressure to increase his draft stock and carry the team?

New gloves this year?

Just isn’t like him :(

Of course, no one else is being given the opportunity at those points.

In the past we might spread that blame around a bit. Now everyone in the goddamn stadium knows its going to him.

I mean this thread is amusing. I like a good **** on the refs post game meltdown. It's good for us to have a common enemy. It's a healthy thing for the fan base.

But the fact that several people on here are legit blaming Hutchinson is crazy to me. Just ******* crazy.
What are your thoughts on Fred Hoiberg?

Did everyone forget about other drops by Noel and Stanley? It happens. The dekkers "fumble" and the incompetence by officials is off the charts.

What was the call on the field? I could have sworn the call on the field was the runner was down. The TV graphic also said call on field runner was down. Just confused all the way around.

He made numerous really important catches today. No player catches everything.

of course he did, I’m sure. Some of drops have been difficult catches, but others have been pretty run of the mill. I’m not putting this on him at all==I heard several clutch catches by him over the radio. It just some of the drops over the last couple games seemed uncharacteristic compared to what we’ve seen from him over the years.

Which brings the next question, why did he even leave his feet? That whole sequence was a flaming pile of crap
I agree, I was just as confused as the next person about that but the fact is that he did and so even if he made the catch there’s no guaranteed points.
But I agree, it was almost as if he lost sight of the ball for a second. Not sure.

Honestly I don’t even think the refs were that bad compared to Baylor first half. Not as good as vs KSU where they were quite good, so this looks bad in comparison. Texas got some earned holding penalties which is more than happens a lot of games.

The illegal tackle because we touched the ground was the worst call of the season in terms of being made up nonsense breaking the sport…but the result was only 2 yards of field position and maybe messing with the head of our D for a few possessions. It didn’t keep a drive alive or directly gift points.

The fumble/targeting was bad but judgement calls. IMHO from 90% of what I’ve seen that is targeting, but it’s a judgement. Not even reviewing it is probably objectively wrong and crooked and that’s why CMC has every right to be mad.

None of it remotely in same realm as Baylor where for a half there were two different sports being played depending on who had the ball. That was 10 points gifted minimum, probably 14.

Haven't gone through this thread, and I won't....Is there a place to watch Campbell's presser?

It'll be posted on cyclones.com sometime. Sometimes it isn't posted right away depending on when the team takes off for Ames. It should be there by tonight at the latest. Also I think 247's Iowa State person was there. I'd assume it gets posted on that site as well.

At some point your record is what it is. We've beaten 3 bad teams. We've lost close to a very good team (Texas), but also lost to a few mediocre teams in KU\Baylor\KSU. Generally a team in that position would be described as "bad"

This should not, and cannot, be the bar.

This x 1000.

We pretty much are what our record says we are.... the worst team in the conference. Maybe not talent wise.... but making crucial mistakes at the worst times... having a poor offense.... and easily the worst special teams..... and it's nearly every week too.... that will make you the worst team in your conference every time.

Just think about how this game opened today.... we get the ball and almost immediately have to punt.... and the punt gets blocked and it wasn't even close (they could have just tackled our punter). You would think after all the issues we've had this year in punt protection that we might have worked on that glaring issue and have it figured out by now.... but nope. That is ENTIRELY on this coaching staff.

And constantly burning timeouts for no reason too. That cost us dearly again today, especially at the end of the game.

It's just the same crap every week. We aren't very good.
