They will not destroy the SEC, but they will try!

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee will slap them back into reality.

SEC schools all realize that each and every school brings something different to the table. Some bring football. Some bring men's basketball. Some bring women's basketball. Some bring baseball. Some bring Olympic Sports. Some bring academics. They all bring passion.

Not one single school in the SEC complains about Vanderbilt getting the same share as Alabama.

....for now.

You realize the market he is referring to is the sports media market not the stock market right?

You are right again! When stocks are crashing and a historic bond market crash, live viewership of sports will be unaffected. I forgot that the companies funding this through ads will still pay the same for advertisements no matter what.

They continue to pay the same if not more. Until one of these contracts comes up equal or lower to the previous one then the market is still growing. Every single league has gotten more and more media dollars after every new contract regardless of the state of the stock market.

Coaching salaries is where a lot of the money will go. The P2 will be able to buy any coach they want and I'm not just talking about HCs but all coaches in all sports.
I disagree with you a little bit. Coaches want to coach. Like if the coach at Wake Forest who's having some success right now is offered the Auburn job at double the salary, is it worth it? He would have to deal with delusional fans coming for his job every loss and probably get fired after year 3 before he could even get his system in place. Or stay at Wake Forest and make a top 1% salary while being loved by everyone.

Coaches are uber competitive and banging your head against the wall of getting to buy the best players and having your best assistant coaches taken it gets old so I'm not sure there are many that fit that mold but hopefully we have one.

Honestly losing players is where I'm most concerned. If the P2 shift all their donor money from the AD to the players directly we'll struggle.

Agree but I do remember someone posting the viewership of Prime TNF going down each week which must be concerning to ownership. What they paid was predicated on a certain level of viewers and I think they aren't at that level with the last few games.

It’s going down because TNF has been a trash product that no one wants to watch. It’s also a massive gamble since it’s on a pure streaming platform.

It's lost almost half of its initial viewership. It's had bad matchups but it also shows that matchups matter in steaming too.

If the NFL can take a hit like that then any league can end up short

This idea that the Pac 12 is going to get anywhere close to what the NFL got from Amazon or Apple is crazy, the NFL is just a ratings monster, they put a lot of crappy teams on the Thursday night package, outside of the first week. Just like this week, we get Philly very good playing Houston, a crappy team.

The thought that the Pac12 is going to draw large numbers is not happening when they lose USC and UCLA, Udub and Oregon will draw on an over the air time slot, but not when the B10 starts having late games between their current teams and the LA teams. Once that occurs the Pac12 late night, only game in town will be lost, that is not factorying in BYU Big 12 games.

So it looks like ISU will be making half of what a Big10 team is making. Big10 is just rolling in money and truely believe the separation will only get greater.
No, The big 10 is expected to get to 100M+ with the expected playoff money. When that happens the expected payout for the Big 12 will also increase. So the big 10 will be making aprx 90-100M after the playoff expansion. The Big 12 will be making 65-70M with the same playoff increase, that people are including in the increase for the big 10.

That’s actually not true anymore because your T3 rights are included in the espn deal. Big12 is still getting 50mil per team give or take a bit since the new schools are getting less

And the B1G will still not be much better than the Big 12 in football.... and be worse in basketball.

Pretty good breakdown at the beginning of New Big 12 TV deal, Pete Mundo:

Just as important, the P2 teams will be able to fire any coach they want. In other words, P2 coaches will be on a short leash. Expectations will be high, and teams will not have much patience because they can afford to go buy the next hot name. Might scare off some coaches who fear ending their career.

Yet it still is, because we still will be getting 50-55m with this deal and 65-70 after the playoff expansion. and the 100M that is expected for the Big 10 in several years also includes that expected playoff increase.

The all still true. Thing is before the covid year it was expected the Big 12 would get 48M+/- so you have to think that this increase will put us closer to 60M even before the playoff expanding than to 50M.

If the tier 3 is wrapped into the amount that ESPN is paying and the tier 1 rights are coming in at around 32mil where is the other 18mil coming from to get you to 50 before the CFP? I’m genuinely asking because I always thought the tier 3 rights were where that extra money was coming from.
