Yep full credit to them. They played about as good as they likely can play. We did not and still won. That’s the sign of a really good team.
Really good (defensive) teams don't give up 85 points to anyone -even if we did score 88. Bill will have a boatload of teaching moments to use after this one. We have to stop chasing the ball on defense. Creighton got us out of position over and over in tournament last year. Based in this game I don't see that we learned much.

Thank god UNI can't shoot free throws - 11/21 woof.

The play against the zone is the exact same thing they did a year ago in the 4th quarter to come back. It boggles my mind that CBF who played zone for years can't figure out UNI's zone.

That's the game loss for them right there. Wow.

Edit: Or maybe OT if they even hit 70%.

You are correct but let’s wait and see what happens shall we? Mid-November, so a lot of chances to get better. And if we don’t, then we can have a Creighton game again in March and go home. No use sweating it now as fans.

So nobody else on here cares as much as you then I guess because in your words the more critical and negative you are, the more you care. Yet somehow the vast majority on here can find a ton of positive and great things while pointing out bad things and being critical all at the same time.

I genuinely feel bad for you. How can you actually enjoy cheering for Iowa State or any team. You talk about blood pressure? Check your own pal. I’m just peachy over here.

I’m happy for you. Glad you’ve calmed down. Sleep well!

Agreed but this is essentially the same team as last year. There shouldn't be much that surprises them by now.

Good game, classic ISU vs instate team matchup. It's like you all haven't watched Iowa State play the instate teams before? It's always like this, no the team doesnt suck. No, this isn't a sign we are gonna suck. We beat them at home by 1 last year, and proceeded to have our best season ever (just based off wins).

Sort of. Still don’t know what we have with Soares. Give her time and she may completely change the defense once we get her fully engrained and Bill can see what she can do in real time.

No you are doing this wrong! You must melt down!!!

Everyone knows you can’t lose or play poorly against the UNI and Drakes of the world and accomplish anything. Signed the 1999-2000 Elite Eight men’s basketball team.

Yeah…. don’t dare be negative or concerned about us giving up 85 pts to UNI….. what kind of fan are you anyway? You should always be happy with how ISU teams are performing.

The only solace that comes from this is that Iowa had a tough one with Drake a few days ago....we're always going to get the best from Drake and UNI...but we also played poorly, and I don't understand some of the coaching and scheming tonight

And why I didn't jump on the dissing Iowa bandwagon. Here it is a few days later in an environment not remotely like that in DSM (although I heard there were a ton of Hawk fans there) and we had to squeak one out just like they did.

I don't put too much overreaction stock into these games although this was at least not boring! Looking forward to the west coast trip and than to IC versus the Hawks. Lots of really good games on tap in NC.

Wrong again. The football team sucks complete ass on offense and I have been right there with everyone on that. Hell, check the Okie State game thread and I had plenty of fire in there.

But you are on a whole different level.

Thought you were going to bed?

We don’t know what we have with Soares because evidently Bill is happy with us just chucking horrible 3’s instead of going inside to her and letting her dominate.

That was baffling. Every time she posted up and we went to her, she dominated.

Disagree with UNIs zone causing issues for us. We put up 88, and with a slow first 5 minutes in the 1st and 4th quarter. Felt like we missed on a lot of scoring opportunities, too.

Problem was we gave up 85 points. Granted, way too many of them were in the paint and you had a 6’6” solution and refused to use it

There you go. Some real chat. I agree there were a lot of puzzling coaching choices tonight. Let’s see what Bill does going forward. Now if he doesn’t adapt to Soares’ game if she is indeed really good in the post then we can talk.

We haven’t had a center like her in a hot minute and this team had been together for awhile playing that Chuck-a-three style. Not easy just to snap your fingers and change that. Growing pains that hopefully will lay dividends in February and March.

Yeah, I was way out of line saying we were playing like the 18th ranked team and would get destroyed by Iowa playing like we did. I should have said we were playing like the 25th ranked team instead! ;)

she had some not great plays though against that zone where she tried a shot she should have passed out of. Given our lack of post play in the last few years, I think it's gonna take the rest of the team some time to figure out how to adjust to use her properly... and I think she may be our most "swingy" player game to game based on the the opponent.
