I understand. My point is the fact that they didn't win the division is irrelevant. Purdue (8-4) did win their division, but that doesn't mean they are automatically better than Ohio State (11-1) because the Boilermakers won their division and the Buckeyes didn't.But they do have divisions. And Ohio State didn't win it. So Ohio St can't win the Big 10. We already know Michigan is a lot better than them so why put them in the top 4? If USC beats Utah, it's a no brainer. Even the media/ESPN can't argue with this.
As for Ohio State and USC, at this moment in time, they are both (11-1). Their regular seasons were equal. However, due to conference rules, USC gets a chance for another data point, and Ohio State does not.
I think USC is better NOW, and it has nothing to do with the fact that they are in their CCG, and Ohio State is not in their CCG. The CCG just gives USC another chance to impress or fail. If they win, they will get the nod. If they fail, they will not.
Good on the Pac for getting rid of divisons, and shame on the B1G for not doing so.
